Anyone underwhelmed by Forza 3?

Nope, I really wanted to like Forza 2 but I just couldn't get a long with it, same for NFS:S but this is utterly fantastic. Slamming an NSX at full speed down Fujimi Kaido is awesome every time.

I haven't really read up much about this game (I don't really like driving games much, apart from GT series). But I do have a question - can you fiddle around with the cars settings / by parts like in GT?

The Forza series is basically the xbox platform's GT series. Except better ;)

Never put much time into Forza 2, only played it on one of my flat mates 360s before i had one, but Forza 3 at present is a good driving game. Its missing a few features that i thought would be in the game, but its a good fun driving game. The handling/performance doesnt always feel quite right comparing it with the same car i have driven on the road, maybe down to the game or maybe me not playing it on a wheel, but its still got a great driving model which is fun. The damage to me is a let down, and i can see why PD said its hard to damage correctly. It does seem like its just a replace part x with damage part x over the whole area, e.g. if i hit the right side of my bumper a few times why does the left side damage at the same rate? At least it feels that way to me, unsure if its just the few cars i have driven. Graphics are not as good as i thought they would be, after looking at the car models shown by turn 10 i expect them to be on par with GT5Ps race models but they are a few steps back, still look great though and keeping a nice steady 60FPS is ideal for driving games and this runs very smooth. Customisation of car parts is excellent, as is the decal side this is Forza 3 strong point over GT5 as we know so far. Overall its probably the best "sim" driving game ive played this gen as a total package, dont feel let down at all, ok its not got some of the cars i like and some of the tracks aint great but the racing and customisation side are great fun. I wouldnt say its worth purchasing a 360 to play it, but if youre a fan of Gran Turismo and have a 360 then its a good if different alternative. The one downer, and its no fault of the game, is as ive been playing it it just makes me want GT5 more.

FM3 has no E39 M5 and therefore is a bitter dissapointment. I cried myself to sleep last night asking how a game contaning 4 blandomatic Audi S4/RS6 things and no less than 5 M3's could only have one M5 :(

Would have thought the more pressing concern to yourself would be just how pants you are and just how many times I handed your ass to you on a plate last night.

:D :D

Oh My, isnt it a bit early to find the game underwhelming?
Besides no way you could have experienced everything the game can offer in this limited amount of time.

Community Content = Continued Enjoyment
DLC = Ferrari 458 and much more
Time Trials = Racing actual people is more involving / forget the crummie AI
Drag Racing = Something new if not for everyone
Online Competitions = Puma Competition + more
Car Tuning = Many cars to purchase and tune to your taste

The driving physics feel quite nice and I've no real quibbles there, my main issues are the sound, for some reason mine is like having an old SBLive sound card on XP, it seems to randomly pop every so often, I have both discs installed and I've had this before with PGR4, could having it installed be the cause?

I have mine installed and experience the same thing.

The game isn't going to change dramatically with DLC though is it?

If something fails to excite upon the first few hours play, after waiting for it for so long, I'd class that as being underwhelming.

To those with the sound popping - maybe a stupid question but are you sure its not the car exhaust backfiring?
My Shelby does it all the time :D

I don't understand why people would continue to use the event list while they have season play mode?

If i was using the event list I'm pretty sure it would put me off, having the ridiculously huge grid staring me in the face, it's too much. Season play helps disguise the sheer size of the job at hand. ;)

In a nutshell, stop using the event list, silly.

Well not every game will offer its best enjoyment with so little time invested into it, particulary such a large game as this.

I remember getting the arse ate off me on these forums for suggesting quite a while back that "FM3" didnt appear to be doing anything much different regards sim/racing elements. "Changable weather & Limit of 8 cars" were notable areas with no improvement. It was clear to me yet underwhelming at "THAT TIME" of "FINDING OUT" it was looking FM3 would be very similar in its racing and what it offered compared to FM2.

Regardless, of those their is much more to this game including more cars and tracks which is always a good thing for a racing game. The game isnt underwhelming in what it offers but i would say it perhaps plays and feels too similar to FM2 for those that are getting bored so early perhaps. Im certainly not finding it boring, if anything some of the cars are great fun to drive.

Just to add my 2 pence.

I think its a fantastic game, not perfect but still fantastic. The graphics are incredibly smooth and moving it all looks great but there are still 'swimming lines' all over the place and sometimes the road textures look like they just pop in (only a small section). Other than that I find it incredibly immersive.

I am getting the exact same sound problems as people have described, installed and going to my 5.1 amp and yeah random 'pops'. I was going to start rewiring the whole thing but if its common I won't bother.

The one major feature that I am disappointed about is the online side of things, I figured as a silver member I wouldn't be able to race other people which is fine. However, I cannot use the auction house for cars/livery etc I realise that it is still the 'online' part but surely silver members could have got access to that part even if not the racing.

Admittedly I could get the Gold membership but I NEVER play games online etc and this is the first aspect I have actually been annoyed about not having a gold account.

This was the same on Forza 2, the game that persuaded me to go for Gold.

Stop being a *****. :p

Nail on head. Most people probably enjoy the sights and sounds more than the actual racing dynamics, which is where the games most improved. People want the game to offer excitement on a plate but if you're not into the technicalities of driving it might be lost on you. I'm loving the R class races and hot lapping in the other thread trying to chase those tenths.

Forza 3 is a great game especially in the time-frame Turn 10 has had between Forza 2 and this. But for people who have played Forza 2 to-depth its obviously going to be 60-70% the same and have no where near the amount of WOW factory that Forza 2 had.

Also I would have liked to see more from Forza 3 like set category seasons such as V8s or stock car racing, but I also wanted the game to come out ;)

I think Turn 10 have done an amazing job with such little time and overall the game feels/looks fantastic for 360 hardware.
