1tb or 500gb? help please

I was just about to buy a Samsung F3 500 but for an extra £20 I could get the 1TB.

Would it be quicker to run the OS and apps on a 500 or buy a 1TB and partition it?

Any advice appreciated

Buy a 1TB and partition it. You might as well make use out of the extra space for the price difference.

If you've got the space then you'll fill it! Go with the 1TB drive.

Yes go for 1TB cos it so cheap as Ive bought last week along with Windows 7 - pretty nicely.. it give you plenty of space, 500GB using one platter and 1TB using 2x500GB platter so it up to you but 1TB price seem quite cheap to grab it

It was the 2 platters in the 1tb I was wondering about. I thought that might give a speed increase, but I wasn't sure how it would work out with a partition.

I dont mind about the extra space, I would rather have an efficient 500gb OS drive than a less efficient partitioned drive. I have an F1 that I'm going to use for extra storage or possibly another backup

Any more views before I make the order?

The two platters will give a speed increase. Partitioning will mean both partitions will be spread over both platters.

I'd definately say go for the 1TB drive.

When you partition they're created from the outer edge of the disk (the fastest part) so the first partition will be the quickest one.

Same as my own PC - I used F3 1TB as master drive and F1 1TB as 2nd drive for my own files,etc.. included backup that much easier.

That's very large, better to create a smaller partition for OS and applications. It's then easier to backup, wipe for reinstalls etc.

I'm thinking of getting 2x500GB for raid 0 instead of 1TB?

Should I go for it? Would I see noticible gains over 1 TB drive?
