Which i7 board

I think i'm going to go with the gigabyte, looks pretty fugly imo, but if its functional with all the goodies. I can't work out from reviews if the cheaper version is as good though!

The UD3?

Looks good value for the money tbh, i almost went with one myself but ended up picking a Bloodrage as i will probably put my i7 under water and need one of the top clocking boards. Don't think i'd pay another £70 for the UD5 over the UD3 though.

How comes you don't think the ud5 is worth the extra money?

+1 for ud5 >>>mine is @3.6ghz 1.15v ddr3 1600mhz very stable xfire 4890s@940clock &1045mem

getting avrage 95fps in world in conflict everything max@1680x1050

3dmark vantage 21520

the ud5 i think has a little more head room for upgrades...6 dimm slots and triple sli or x fire

i pondered the question between ud3 and ud5 ...i would have regreted getting the ud3

bios are very easy to use ..im a first time builder and overclocker and i found it very easy to do ...

Using the Asus P6T Deluxe V2 here, has been a good solid board so far, no major grumbles apart from Turbo throttle but am on air so understand why... Have got blck up to 212 but everyday use is at 200x19 with 1.2375v (if I've remembered correctly) in bios.. Straight forward bios to, pretty easy to overclock with.. Previously had an Asus P5Q-E board which I loved so stayed with them.. (Plus the colour scheme's nicer ha-ha ;))

Depends on your uses.
If your gaming then not really.
If your leaving at stock then the i5 will perform better.
If your overclocking then the 1366 i7 will go a bit further and perform better.

"If your leaving at stock then the i5 will perform better."

How so ?

Anything more than a P6T vanilla or a UD3R is overkill. UD5 is a good board, but do you really need the extra features over a UD3R?

MMmmmm the smell of freshly bought electronics :D :p :)

Howdy Mate certainly has been long time , Unless you've not been on it's funny how people can never cross path for ages on a forum until they endup in the same thread :)

Will update this thread later if it all turns up with a few pics and what not, not a clue about i5 overclocking etc so I'm gonna do some guess work :) Hope you've been keeping well dude, and tbh if you weren't such a nice person to deal with back in the day I wouldn't remember you at all lol :p

£256 for a motherboard!! No lol, just no. I think I'll possibly go UD5 if everyone thinks they aren't a bad board :)

Tight sod! I paid £280 for it back in March and it was £330 at most places. :D

Yes its very expensive but it is a brilliant motherboard. Extremely happy with mine. Just can't wait to get a 920 D0 in it now for some serious Overclocking.

I drive a rover, the rainy day fund couldn't be completely drained incase the HG goes, and.... rains!

Now question guys, I really should start a new thread but do I raid the 2 500gb F3's that i have as a boot and games drive and keep the 1tb for storage or just not bother? :)

Nevermind all the excitement. The motherboard had a bent corner up at the top right (as in the pcb shows fibers) and the monitor rattles when you pick it up and buzzes when you turn it on. Really not happy :(
