Who has SKY HD+?

Just signed up to Sky HD after receiving an offer through the post, not had a chance to read through this thread so this has probably been mentioned already but it now costs only £30 (installation) for Sky HD.

This offer as far as I am aware is only valid if you also take up multi-room. I already have multi-room so the idiot goes to me, sorry it's not valid for you, so I told him put me through to cancellations. Spoke to a lady there who advised me to cancel my current multi-room which she did, and then she put me back through to the other dept who would then add it back on with Sky HD for £30.

The guy she put me through to was very very helpful. I was expecting to pay an additional £10 a month for HD (plus the £10 for multi-room) but he actually said to me you only need to pay £5 for multi-room not £10 so make sure when you ring back to confirm the date of installation, you tell them that it's only £5 (well £4.90 to be precise).

So all in all, I keep the multi-room and get Sky HD for £30 plus an additional £5 a month, awesome!

Can anyone confirm that because they cancelled my multi room and are going to set it up again, I get to keep the spare Sky+ box?

Turned that off the moment i was updated (months ago), it means you can only view about 5 lines in the EPG! What a stupid idea. The audio from the channel carries on over the EPG anyway.

Had it less than a week and got a new box already!! Took the Amstrad away and gave me a Thomson one, hope this one is better! Wouldn't record and subtitles & sound were all over the place. So far so good with the new box though.

Please tell me the Thomson did not come in a brown box? If so it's not new but a recon. They stopped using new thomson boxs over a year ago as they had loads of problems with the psu's

I was given a thompson after my Amstrad HD box stopped recieving HD. Everything else was fine...

I really want sky+HD HOWEVER

As I live on a military camp all the rooms have been wired up to get sky+/HD YAH you think...well yes...but WHY OH WHY must I pay somebody £30 to bring the box to my room...PLUG IT IN....THEN LEAVE????

I really am not sure why you would want this feature?

You can browse all of the channels via the search and scan if you just want to see quickly when something starts etc, and you can listen to the feed while in the full page epg mode.

Getting sky hd installed next week. Have been with sky for like 13 years now - decided to take HD as they were offering a free box.

Anyway, what box should i ask for when he comes? with all these EPG updates and contrast issues im a bit miffed on what to ask for - it seems all boxes have advantages and disadvantages.

I have also bought an octo LNB to fit on the dish - i want this to try and run cable to most of the rooms in the house - do you guys think if i gave the sky installer a bit of money he would do this? What bribing techniques do you think i should try?!

Spot on! It was in said brown box and the guy said it was brand new etc. I asked for a Pace/Samsung but he said they didn't have any.

Subtitles seem to be ok now on this box though. However, I looked at the planner earlier on to see what we've set up to record and it was almost empty. My Mrs put all the show's details in again after we'd had it changed and they were missing. Not going to be too impressed if this box is crap as well!

. Yes it does

Send the thomson box back or tell sky it keeps shutting down after 30 mins ; ) you only had your amstrad for less then 28 days so you should get new unit ask for pace, amstrad , samsung (All new units come in a black box) All recon units are in Brown boxs. Sky will always send out new boxs to fitters when less then 28 days old but you get some fitters who make a bit off cash selling the new boxs on the bay and fitting recons which look new.

Not bad , but mine is pig slow and does feeze during most recordings which you have to FF through.

- 1gb WD EVCS drive.
- New EPG.

It only started happening after the new EPG update came along.

just tried using the red button on bbc1 and it just flashes loading up for a second, then nothing. Is this a known problem with the EPG update or anyone have any ideas.
