*** Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X 1024MB GDDR5 @ £378.99 inc VAT ***

isn't dirt2 poop?

anyways I'm staying out. Vapor x made good sense on 48xx cards due to higher heat / noise. the 58xx run cooler meaning you don't need to run the hairdryer cooler so hard.

I'm with Kyle strangely ;) Problem is I don't see a quick end to it unless nvidia surprise us all with a top end dx11 card. My 5970 purchase is looking less and less likely...

It will be interesting to see how the cooler performs and whether it justifies the extra £80 they're asking for it, the clockspeed increases are nothing a stock card can't do.

Dirt 2 isn't even out on PC yet. So we can't exactly comment.

As for the card, looks sweet. Quite expensive, but hell, I would buy it if I had the cash.

so how much does that cooler cost, if the 5870 standard 1 was 50 then thisl cost them 139 quid to make....blimey

how many inches? is it 11 like the stock card?

I have an Antec p183 with drives in the middle section - a royal pain in the @rse to move things around...

Too expensive for my pockets :( , can't warrant £80 over a stock one, where is the blue pcb version that was doing the rounds  , is this just a stock pcb with vapor x cooler ?

Ouch - £65 premium on the reference model - which is now £314. Think I'll pass for the moment!

Good job OcUK in getting stock though........

I personally don't think the standard HD5870 is priced that high, considering its the fastest single GPU card on the market available in the world but this Vapour-X carries to much of a premium IMO.

Sorry for the sake of a 2 or 3 extra FPS in your games it isn't worth paying such a large premium unless you must have a high performance card that's also quiet.

Its title as fastest consumer GPU in the world is completely irrelevant.

Its performance doesn't justify its cost, compare it to 2 4870s in crossfire, which, while they aren't DX11, represent far better value for money.

Even the 5850 is far better value, it costs 2/3rds the cost of the 5870 but gives about 80-85% performance of a 5870.

I wouldn't consider buying this at the price quoted. I was hoping for something not that much more expensive than the reference cards.

But I will say this: HURRY AND STOCK THE 5970 ALREADY :D ;)
