New watch options, C.£1K

Wow - what kind of crazy life to you lead where looking at your phone makes you look stupid. It must really suck to be in such restrictive/oppressive situations...

I certainly wouldn't want a job where I felt the need to wear a £1,000 watch not to look stupid. Sounds like a nasty, judgemental bunch of people you work with! Is there a way to get over this social pressure, without dropping a grand on a watch?

I think it's rude to (appear) to check your mobile in the middle of a meeting in any job. It's better to check your watch, rather than risk looking ignorant. I deal with some top end clients and I don’t want to look massively unprofessional checking my phone. A nice £50 watch would do but I don’t want one. Nobody I work with has a “posh” watch so there is no pressure to fit in there, I just want one. We spend so much of our life spending money on depreciating products such as cars (do you have a car, how much will that cost you to run this year, including depreciation?). I think in the grand scheme of things if I drop £1300 on a nice watch and sell it on for £1000 in three years time £2 a week (less than a pint of beer or a few pints on petrol) a week isn’t a bad price to pay.

I get a kick out of expensive things. It makes it even more satisfying when people like you react in the way you have. It’s even better when some lays into you and you think, I’m going to make a profit out of this “expensive” thing your questioning.
 
Well I thought I better try a 42mm PO on today to see if it wasn't too big for my girly wrists and it actually fitted nicely.

Only problem is now I want one, 42mm steel strap with black bezel but with the orange numbers please :)
