What are the consequences...

Is it hard to re-fit a tyre yourself i i get them off a website?
I have to go for the car with the fancy alloys with low pofile tyres.!

You won't manage it yourself without stuff.

Buy the tyres online, phone about and don't pay more than £20 quid fitting and balancing for the pair.

cheaper tbh, not sure where about you are but if you're near hillington my mate could get you them fitted for £5 a corner, balanced.

It has to be. What are these instructors teaching these kids?

Instead of banging on about speed, why don't we educate people on how to maintain their bloody cars.

Of course it is not.! on my test i didnt get asked to do a parallel park, left hand reverse or even open the bonnet.! I took my test early aswell, was quite shocked i passed actually.

Must be something at least vaguely interesting with those tyres. Perhaps spending less on the car so you could actually afford to run it may have been prudent.

I know its been said many times before... but 3 point per tire, so 6 points and loss of licence.

Id imagine the fine would be the standard £60 two times, so £120... not sure.

Has the spare tyre got legal tread on it as it might save you having to buy two tyres you wlll then need to leave it out of the car until you get a tyre for the spare but this is better than having illegal tyres.

It is 3 points a tyre however if more than one are bald at the same time it is classed as a single offence and you will only get 3 points.

When i passed my test my car had four pretty much bald linglongs on it, i honestly considered leaving them until they were properly illegal, then sense got the better of me and i replaced them all

- literally a week later someone emergency stopped infront of me on the m4 slip road in a 4x4, I was doing near motorway speeds and without any ABS and a poor attempt at not locking up I stopped an inch or two behind them - Will honestly never think about cheaping out on tyres now -

dont wait until you have to learn the hard way, and for the sake of everyone - at least buy semi decent tyres.

Don't know if you're trying to be overly evasive or not but whats the car make / model?

Personally would never, ever risk driving something with bad tyres on - it's just not worth it.

You will lose your license because youll get 3 points for each tyre, add this to the cost of retaking your test, then your increased insurance and dont forget you can be fined £2500 PER TYRE....an expensvie trip when you get caught.

As for your mate and the didgy MOT, not vey clever.

Worst case scenario is 3 points per tyre, which is your licence.

Best case is 7 day wonder.

You should NOT drive with excessively worn tyres.
