Forza 3 - Time Trial Championship

We got until Friday with this then?

If so I'll jump on one night and shave off that half a second to get me closer to 1.03 :p

Thanks for the comments guys, just finding more grip in the track the more I play with this car and understand how to nurse it.

Where is ibert, hes right and handy at these games and usually would be faster than myself.

Keep at it as well widget.

Do people find they get quicker times without any assists? I use just the TCS/ABS and one more driver aid I think. Do they hamper you speed/time wise?

Yes they do. Also, turn TCS off. It does nothing except slow you down.

To start with I was using ABS and couldn't beat 1:03.4. Turned ABS off and, although you have to concentrate a lot more, I was instantly 2 tenths quicker, and I'm sure I could get more out of it too.

Be very gentle with the brakes when ABS is off.
On the wheel you hardly have to press the pedal for it to work.

I would think most of the people here are doing two things:

1 Over braking, too hard on the brakes.
2 Losing speed from traction, too much throttle too early.

Basically a golden rule if you hear the tyres screeching then your losing time

Avoid:
Lockups
Wheelspin
Brake earlier to be fast out not fast in

haven't got any pics, but I've tried various settings.

1:05.456 Auto, ABS On, TCS Off, STM Off, Braking Line Only
1:05.086 Manual, ABS On, TCS Off, STM Off, Braking Line Only
1:05.333 Manual, ABS On, TCS On, STM Off, Braking Line Only

Completely standard car.......and I'm at the limit of my ability I reckon....I simply cannot get any faster with that car....

Think I'll be last....:P

What Latte said.

For padders like myself, you can press the triggers part way and hold them at a constant at any level, meaning you can keep the throttle on a bit through a corner rather tha harf braking and harsh accelration. Being smooth is the key.

You will find parts of a track when you will swing from the apex to the curb on the opposite side of the track and most of the time you should be going hard at it at this point, not missing it by a meter or more.

First point of call is grabbing someones ghost and following them, makes a word of difference as you can see their braking points and track position. Don't reply on the ghost though, as their method may not always be the fastest, you can find your own too.

The only down side to the pad is a lack of feel, but ultimately you can hold the wheel at a certain steering angle wheras with a pad will just have to turn in and out like flicking a switch.

Good points, it sucks though that we cant send each other ghosts if they are not in the top 100 then others have no way of seeing or competiting with a mates actual ghost. The game allows multiple ghosts so personally id love to be able to upload maybe 4 peoples ghosts that I know are around me and be able to view or compare them in a virtual race when time trialing.

This (imo of course) is a major flaw for the online side of things that they havnt really added features like this.

Im going to try the standard wheel tonight to see how i compare and use this as part of an upcoming review/comparison. Is the Fanatec wheel giving me much benifit, mmmmm. I have found though that i can be very consistant with it easily staying within 2 tenths of my PB.

Finally got into 1.03.963. I think this will be my last attempt, feel i could pull another 0.3 from this but i'm too lazy for that.

Well done on your top 100 time mr latte.

Dragged myself up to a 1:04.568. Pad / manual / ABS / Brake line only
Will try without ABS next, also I never stick to the driving line but i'm too lazy to pick out proper braking points. :P

OK this is probably so simple I'm being a div, but how do you download other peoples ghosts?

go into the hot lap thing, choose your car, your track location, then when you're on the bit where it shows all the actual layouts in that track location you press Y to look at the leaderboards. most of the top 100 times will have the icon for the 'ghost' filled in so you press A on them and hit the 'race this ghost' option

I'm trying but I think you got me beat. A quick question after racing your ghost. On turn 5 by the Dunlop bridge I notice you don't brake, are you lifting off for that corner? I have been with your ghost up until then but you just pull away every time.

I blip it under the Dunlop Bridge, quite a bit of time can be gained here with the following long straight.

Id say on this particular lap my 1st half isnt just as good as some i have done.
Prob do nail it well at the Dunlop corner with a good important hairpin entry and exit speed into a nice last corner.
