(I assume DDR 2 will run on my new MBP) any thoughts?

I have 2GB at the moment and have never seen so many freaking beachballs in my life. (I do not think this is normal...my old MBP was fine with 2gb ram...)

Performance wise i would imagine that the difference isn't that noticeable. Depends on the cost really.

Well if the price is right i'd for 4GB DDR3, causing im guessing if you can fit 8GB DDR2, then down the line you can fit 8GB DDR3?

Got to fill both slots though so it'd involve selling and buying new stuff. Not the end of the world but not as simple as buy four now buy another four later.

Four's probably plenty - what do you do?

What's the price difference you're looking at for 4gb DDR2, 4GB DDR3 and 8gb? Can you get 8GB DDR3? (noob question I know but I don't want to look stupid!)

4gb is plenty for most things but if you're really hammering LR and PS 8gb might prove worth the money.. I don't think it would for me though last time I looked 8gb was shocking pricey.

ah, I see your point!

4GB DDR3 is 67£ and 8GB DDR2 is 200+.

DDR 3 it is, I didn't think DDR2 would be so much. THanks for all the help!

Did your Macbook Pro come with DDR2 or 3? If it came with DDR3, you can't use DDR2 in it.

There we go. Bang 4gb in mate, 8gb's just too rich for my tastes, and most people's in my experience. 4gb is plenty for the vast majority of people anyway unless you're doing lots of rendering and stuff.

Yeah, I think 4GB is more than enough in a laptop. However, if your MBP is beachballing with 2GB, there may be a fault with it.
