Forza 3 - Time Trial Championship

I shall not be posting a time for this one I don't think :/

40 laps and not one of them clean

Sometimes the lap is invalid before I've even hit the first corner??!!

I havnt tried the car/track yet but perhaps try it with TC on first.
Learn to expect where its bite points/revs are. If using manual consider short shifting or be in a higher gear than you need to and this will reduce revs and likelyness of losing the backend.

I take it with FM3 you can only turn TC ON/OFF
In GT5P you had a varible settings which would be a lot better.

Speaking of TVR one of the most frustrating things I ever did was the Gran Turismo Gold International A Licence sections with the Griffith 500. I just don't enjoy slow in fast out in games or real life, but particularly in games because it gives you less feel in a corner.

This is because you had a /!\ in the last sector of the previous lap which could enhance your speed on the start finish straight of the current lap.

A quick tip for anyone who has a fault in the last sector is to hit the rewind button to before the fault, carry on and finish the lap and you will start the next lap without any faults. You will still have a fault on the current lap but it saves driving yet another full lap to get a clean final sector.

Already running with TC on. Can keep the car on the black stuff ok as well so that's not the problem :)

Having said which Widgets explanation sounds likely....thanks :)

It must be a damn long last sector then. An error anywhere after the first left/right wipes out that lap and the next lap. I did about 17 laps last night and only got two clean ones.

Thats funny i had 5 strait laps disallowed before i even got to the first corner even though i went slow all round the previous lap and never went near the curbs, there penalty system in this game is seriously messed up, if you go wide you loose time on most corners anyway as you seem to hit a brick wall, so why do they have to disallow the laptime too, its stupidity.

Who the hell chose this track/car combo ? ;)

It's a real challenge, that's for sure..

Just done a few laps, and this one is not going to suit people with no finesse, i.e. me..!

Anyone that says car's are easy to drive in FM3 etc, just point them at this challenge. the GT3 seems as twitchy and on the edge as it's supposed to be in real life...

jeez I can't understand people having so much trouble with laps. Just stay on the track?

Nothing to do with that per se but I think the 'off track' is rather broken on this circuit. Final chicane before the main straight seems to suggest generous usage of the kerbs yet breathing near them (for me anyway) gets an instant penalty?!

This track is very finicky with the penalties, especially the last chicane. I have been up on my ghost numerous times only to blow it on that chicane.

I'll start with a 1:15.624

Seems to me that the rule thats being applied for penalties is the same rule as applied in F1, if all 4 wheel are over the painted curb then you're deemed to be off track and gaining an advantage.

I don't understand how you guys are getting these times, on the Integra trial I was a fair few seconds off the pace and couldn't see where I could gain more than 0.5 seconds let alone 2 seconds.

Just done 8 laps in the GT3 and I have done a 1:20.531 which I could beat, maybe even take another second off but would still leave me well off the 1:15 set above.

Am I doing something wrong with this game? I'm not a noob to driving, played loads of racing games and done real racing with tuition.

I'm using a pad, using TC, ABS, auto, and braking line while I learn the tracks.

I'm not having any problems with the final chicane - it's everything before that. The GT3 is a twitchy beastie.

Best time so far is 1:18.357, but I reckon I can shave a good half second off at least. That's using a Pad with ABS and manual gears.

I dusted the wheel off this afternoon and was two seconds slower.

It's mostly the penultimate bend/s that carry a caution over into the next lap.

Manual with more revs available is significantly faster you will find a bit more with ABS off and maybe compare your times with the full line.

Its a shame this game falls behind even Mario Kart on the Wii for leaderboard replay function. You can race a ghost or watch a replay a little faster than you and keep stepping up. Race friends list ghosts etc iirc.

Dont expect fast time using all those aids, aids will never give you fast times.

I tried manual with TC off, doesn't really help things.

Manual shifting doesn't make the car any faster.

I just ran 1:19.904 with Auto and ABS, everything else off. If I ran a perfect lap I could probably make 1:19 flat, impossible to get another 4 seconds off, the car wont go any quicker.

I must be doing something wrong or you guys are cheating.

I choose free play, then hot lap, go to Porsche, 11th car along is the 911 GT3 (997), I select that, pick a colour, then run custom difficulty,

Auto brake = off
anti-lock brakes = on
Stability cont = off
traction control = off
shifting = auto
suggested line = braking only (I could turn this off now)

The third track along is Circuit de Catalunya, 2nd variation is National circuit, I pick that and off I go, that all right?

At which point are you guys enabling the super nitro boost? lol
