Dragon Age: Origins - SPOILER Discussion area.

How did you find the fight...
... while others beat on him from behind

You molested him to death?

I put it on 'easy' mode for that fight. I find the combat lacks a certain something I cannot put my finger on. The same applies to the camera angles. The game, apart from being completely generic fantasy, is actually very enjoyable.

Just started off as a human fighter, loving it so far

very immersive which is what I wanted

I finally started playing this after sorting out my DLC and I have to say it has some of the best lines ever, upon meeting my friends girlfriend I get the option to say...

This fat cow is your lover?

I mean honestly can people really be this mean? :)

Avernus just friendly fire my whole f-ing team everytime I try to battle the demon woman at the end of Wardens Keep. He charges up fireball as soon as the fight starts and because it's a tiny room I have nowhere to run, so all my team lose 50% of their life. Then there is another battle straight after with no time to rest. Replayed it like 10 times and cant beat it cos of the bloody FF from the stupid NPC :(.

edit: switched skill to easy, which apparently turns off FF effects. I still got hit by the fireball (NPC FF must still count :/ ) but the battle was easy enough to win anyway.

Has anyone made a mage ?

There was a quest at the start to help some guy and his future wife, at first I didnt want to help them as I thought the guy would turn out no good and played to stich them up, then during the quest I kinda felt sorry for them and was going to help them and was thinking man it would suck to have no emotion thats cruel what will happen to him, then at the end I decided not to help him as I thought he was up to no good, did anyone else experience this ?

Maybe it was just me but I thought it was pretty cool how the game plays with your mind.

I helped him, but only because I couldn't give a damn about the rules. I usually follow them in games like this at least the first time around, but to hell with it this time, I'll play by my own rules :D

Anyone having an incredibly hard time getting past Redcliffe, after helping the knights defend the road, then you have to go help the militia in the square, and it just seems impossible, the undead horde just keeps coming and coming and coming, run out of HP potions and there are still more rolling in.

I just did that bit lol, was friggin solid on normal, ended up with 3 party members dead and me a mage kiting them around the place until they died, musta used 10+ health/mana potions atleast.

however, saying that i was impressed with the intro of the noble human and the enemy ai has surprised me. the main example was the ranged mage guy on the bridge, i moved forward to engage him and my trusty melee guys legged it forward and my archers pinged him from range. the mage guy runs back to his camp, my guys of course follow, straight into loads of traps and they are picked off by archers on the other side. the mage guy comes back and finishes off the rest of my team.

Thats scripted though, rather than AI unfortuantely.

Caught me out the first time though, wiped me :(

Edit: P.S. I have an Intel Q9550 and an ATI 5850, running at 1920x1200 with everything graphical maxed and I'm seeing no slowdown

I have a laptop with the 260M, 2.6 c2d with XP and 4gig of RAM. I have everything on max and am finding no slow down at all.
I find it strange that people are getting slow down with top spec stuff.

Run back up to the knights after all the militia perish!

Help with Uldred

Quickly take out the abomination minions as fast as possible by focus firing on each one with the entire party. Then just beat on Uldred with the entire party, healing as necessary. Equip all of your characters with the litany scroll in a quickslot, so anyone can use it quickly. Have your least offensively potent character use it each time Wynne warns you to use it, or if Wynne is not in your party, looks for the white glow around the mages when Uldred is trying to turn them into abominations.

The fight is pretty straightforward and easy if you keep uldred from summoning more abominations. If you let him keep bringing in reinforcements, it will be more difficult.

I did by getting rid of all my range (bar me mage/healer) and went pure melee. Healing the non-controllable NPCs helped.
