Trading in the S3... for a Passat??

Good job it isn't then... Fox conveniently forgot that the S3 was financed not because the cash wasn't there,

No I didn't, I simply explained to him that he was wrong to think you went and threw 21 grand at a Passat, thats all. I made no implication at all as to why you chose whatever method you did, as thats for you to explain not me.

I don't mind admitting I really like Passats and the R36 is IMO something special.

Looking forward to the pics :)

A few quick pics, not great as the light hasn't been good today and the location was just a bit of car park :)

Nothing of the interior as the light had gone by the time I got home, they will follow, as will some better photos.

Car sounds lovely, and so far is proving more economical than my S3 did (which is a definite surprise). The DSG box and auto handbrake make for a very relaxing drive when just pottering about, and the car comes alive when you switch it up for fast driving :) Very happy with the purchase overall.

People who haven't driven a DSG box will never appreciate just how well it takes all the best from manual and auto boxes.

Only thing I didn't like was the inability to hold a gear if you let the revs rise too far.

bit of a plain jane aint it

because real men only drive scooby's and evo's?

I'm torn on the passat.. I love them from the front, but hate the rear..

Passat front, Mondeo rear, and you'd have a beauty :p

Well no. jeezus why do people have to make some snide remark when all i said it looked a bit 'plain'. Its considered a sporting model as it has the R badge supposedly derived from its motorsport heritage? and before you say it im not hating on the car as i know what the R cars are like because ive had an R32 before and know what they are capable of.... and sound awesome - especially with a Milltek i might add. plus u do get a lot of kit for the money. i just honestly dont think it looks any different to a normal Passat and perhaps too understated - it just doesnt seem that special. Yes it is good in a way but then again im sure the OP has weighed up the differnt options available to him and settled on this. Just that if it were me i wud have chosen something else. Thankfullly everyone is different otherwise it would be a very boring world

I quite like that, looks quite understated but that's a good thing IMO. Personally it wouldn't have been my choice for £21k however that's simply because I have different priorities and I'm sure that it fits Dolph's checklist perfectly otherwise he wouldn't have bought it.

Get some better pics up along with some interior shots too :)
