Just wanted to create a thread asking for help and explanations of MultiPlayer stuff from other players. The printed manual is crap and apart from a one liner on what each mode does, so is the in game text!!

Basically, I am new to MW (played COD4 a bit and didn't really enjoy it much). I have only really played "traditional" FPS games before so am finding loads of stuff I do not understand in this game.

Maybe just a paragraph post from experienced players explaining stuff for new people?

I got a UAV earlier, dunno what it does, don't understand what killstreaks are for/do, got shot down by some planes, some airstrikes, got messages about enemy packages, perks I am a bit hazy on harrier jets appearing and all sorts!! (Maybe this is all explained in the SP campaign, but I want to play MP mainly, for now).

Basically if it is not a standard feature of games like Unreal Tournament, Quake, Gears of War, G.R.A.W. Resistance etc I need it explaining.

p.s. I know there is already an official thread and 1 for each of the 2 main consoles online.

The main one is still full of people talking about where they got their game, how much they paid, and supermarket mentioning overload!!!

mods can delete this if they want, but for new COD players I think this could be useful, providing each person just asks 1 question per post or something and each answer is just a paragraph describing features, with examples, from people who have played the game

Killstreak Rewards are special bonuses that can be acquired by killing a certain amount of enemies in a row without dying. You can lower the required amount by 1 with the Hardline perk.

Modern Warfare 2 expands the killstreak system from Call of Duty 4 and World at War, as you are now able to customize your killstreak rewards to your liking. You can choose a maximum of 3 per class.

Other than the default set, you have to unlock the rest of the killstreaks, but you get to choose the order you unlock them. Below you will find 9 of the current known killstreaks, there are a total of 15 in the game.

3 Kills
UAV
Description: This deploys a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) that shows the enemies on the radar as dots. The UAV can be shot down by the enemy.

This can be blocked with the Cold-Blooded perk.

4 Kills
Care Package
Description: After you throw the red signal flare, the Care Package will be airdropped into the battlefield. This can be picked by anyone, even the enemy.

The package contains either a random killstreak or ammo. The killstreak can be anything from the UAV to the AC-130 Gunship, regardless what killstreak rewards you have chosen.

5 Kills
Sentry Gun
Description: Airdrop a placeable XM312 Sentry Gun. It will automatically fire at enemies, but it can be destroyed.

This can be of great help in for example, Demolition and Capture the Flag (Flag Runner) game modes.

Predator Missile
Description: This allows you to remote control a Predator Missile. After opening the laptop you have approx 5 seconds to control the missile to your target, as it goed down. You can also give the missile a boost to make it go faster.

You are vulnerable while using the Predator missile, but if you get killed, you can still continue to control it.

6 Kills
Precision Airstrike
Description: This is much like the Airstrike in Call of Duty 4, but this time you can control the direction of the Airstrike for more accurate kills.

7 Kills
Attack Helicopter
Description: Deploys a helicopter to the map like in Call of Duty 4. It will circle the map and automatically attack the enemies for a few minutes and leave. It can be destroyed with guns and missiles.

All the enemies that it kills are added to your kill count.

9 Kills
Pave Low
Description: This deploys a heavily armored Attack Helicopter (Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low) to the map for maximum carnage. As with the Attack Helicopter, all the kills are added to your kill count.

11 Kills
AC-130
Description: After deployed via laptop, an AC-130 Gunship will enter the map. You control it remotely for 30 seconds and you can use the 25mm, 45mm and 105mm canons to shoot at enemies. You are vulnerable while controlling the AC-130, but if you get killed while using it, you can still continue.

Note: The AC-130 can be shot down by the enemy, but it does have flares as countermeasures.

Isn't the whole point of a new game is finding out new things and learning whats going on?

Is this a Heinz baby food thread?

Get stuck in, Spec ops, MP, SP sorts the men out from the boys.

as for what else to explain.

As the game goes along, you level up just like in WoW. you get points for assists, kills, wins etc.. etc.. as you level up you get access to new stuff.

You have "perks" which enable you to do things better such as reload faster, run faster, do more damage etc.. Once you unlock perks each one has a description of what it does so its fairly self explanatory.

You can also unlock "attachments" which are additions to your guns such as silencers, grenade launchers, red dot sights etc.. again as you level you unlock more stuff.

Any other Qs ?

how delightfully helpfull of you.

I don't like MW2 multiplayer. They've over complicated it*. Go and play MW and see the difference. :(

*It may grow on me in the comming days
Cross posting is bad :p

Learn some basic English first. cheets64, the forum troll, strikes again, but struggles to make much sense, again.

Cheers MrLOL, that has given me some "light" reading :) btw what is WoW? If you mean Warcraft or COD: Word at War, I have played neither :) A lot of the descriptions you have pasted reference COD4 as well, which I barely played :(

The whole weapon attachments thing if i remember correctly is specific to the weapon for example any exp gained using the weapon in use will unlock attachments for that weapon only. Also as far as gaining exp goes theres opportunities to gain bonus lumps of exp by performing certain tasks like revenge kills. If i stumble across any decent multiplayer guides i'l link them in this thread for anyone that wants them :)

For the people who reported a post, I can't censor someone for being an idiot. The *only* thing I (strongly) suggest is putting said person/people on your ignore list. It's what its there for!!! If you choose not to use it then ffs don't use the RTM button for fun!!!!

Be thankful you have that luxury, I'd have half the forum on mine :(

So basically, there is no point in reporting people trolling threads, just ignore them instead?

It would be interesting to see if the problem did go away if everyone did ignore 'it' :).

I doubt "it" would realise "it" was talking to itself tbh, :D

Anyway...

Got to level 8 now, any hints tips on "create a class". So far I just use the same basic class each game (First Recon).

I'm just saying it's a tool you might consider using but he's obviously being a **** tonight. Have suspended him & given him a warning, if it continues the suspensions will just keep getting longer & longer...

I don't think so now. I managed to unlock attachments for a completely different gun than what I was using at the time.

I have three of the custom classes just for assault rifles, but I mix them up with different perks, equipment and secondary weapons, whilst the other two are used for the sniper rifle and MP5.

I use them mainly to change the perks for the type of game I'm playing.

I appreciate your suggestion, my comment was just semi tongue in cheek to be honest, I am happy to abide by the advice/decisions of the moderating team.

Which perks, which weapons? Give us some hints of useful combos etc. I am killing a fair few people with my SMG, is there better versions of it or guns that are similar.

The sheer amount of weapons, and unlocks that appear on my screen is just a bit overwhelming (mainly because I skipped the last 2 CODs, I suspect).

Depends on where most of your fights take place, is it mostly close quarters or at range? If a mixture of the two I would recommend the FAMAS for the lower levels since it is fairly powerful and acurate at long ranges. That paired with stopping power and most people seem to die in 1 or 2 shots.

Your best option is to experiment though and find a gun that suits your play style.

Use the Harrier killstreak because it's insane for the amount of kills you need to get it :p

In the last game it just dropped off bombs, now it does that, then stays above the battlefield machinegunning people.

Best bet rp is to head into the barracks menu and have a gander, thats what i did, when u get to certain lvl you unlock the challenges there you can look at the various criteria needed to complete them, like get 30 kills, 5 headshots etc etc which give xtra xp and once done these unlock items, like the grenade launcher, shotgun attachement etc etc.

As for perks, they also have challenged which unlock an upgraded version, i recently got the upgraded version of the quick reload which gives faster aiming as well now, if you want to have a look at the various perks have a look in the custom menu, where u can pick different weapons, perks special nades and such.

Just wanted to create a thread asking for help .....

Just keep playing it dude.

I'll be honest: even coming from playing the original Modern Warfare, i found all the new stuff a bit overwhelming at first. If you just keep playing, it'll all become clear in no time and you'll get used to all the ins and outs of the gameplay.

It might help to stick to "free-for-all" and "mercenary team deathmatch" at first until you get used to the gameplay/perks/weapons unlocks etc.

I recommend you spend some time creating a class for each type of weapon i.e assault rifle - and look what perks you have to play with (not a lot at level 8) but create a class anyway so you can quickly change it when you level up and unlock more perk and attachments for a certain weapon , the perks i used at level 8 was marathon for perk1 - stopping power for perk 2 and i always used stopping power on COD4 never changed that one and will probably keep that all the time on this game and steady aim for perk three , i recommend you stick to 1 weapon for a while and if you do you will unlocked more attachments i.e red dot sight - acog scope which will makes using the weapon a damn sight easier :) , hope that made sense not the best at explaining things :p .
