**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Yes! Rollicking hot man-on-man action! Just one more to go, and I'm the camp whore for sure. Luckily my sweet little priestess is as gullible as they come, but this bodes very well for my next playthrough - female rogue. Score.

I didn't suggest that you did say it was a rip off. I was merely exaggerating my ironic counter argument.

They are truly nothing alike. Diablo isn't a party based game. It isn't a pause-to-order game. It doesn't require tactics. It doesn't have differing scripts. It doesnt operate a risk and reward system. It doesn't use a cause and consequence system. There's no emotional interaction between characters. There's no cut scenes to convery story progression (bar between episodes). DAO doesn't require you to "complete" the game 80 or 90 times to level your character. It presents more than 14 quests which you can either choose to do or not to do and are not conveniently "on the way" to your ultimate destination. It has depth and intrigue and has days of playability without having to repeat itself over and over... which doesn't lend itself to being a "complicated diablo". It's not isometric and is truly 3D which differs the gamplay completely.

They're not the same.

Anyone having any freezing issues? I'm about 26 hrs in and I've noticed that occasionally the game stops (not crash) when moving from a conversation to a cutscene or battle.

I click the choice of reply and instead of the scene or battle following, the characters stay in conversation mode and just stare at eachother.

I'm able to get passed it by ctrl+alt+deleting which seems to kick it up the **** and it gets on with it. I tried the patch but that broke the game completely.

Had a couple of lock ups but not many at all, like you say I had to ctrl alt del out. And I've put quite a few hours in so far ;)

So really I shouldn't have been suspended for mentioning the name of a well known video rental store when I told people in the forza thread they could pre-order the LCE for £39.99.

Not anymore! You can mention them as long as their main market isn't hardware, and OCUK don't sell the said item in question.

Refer to the MWF2 thread.

That doesn't make sense at all. The main market of the mentioned competitor is video game hardware and software is it not? Seems like a bit of a strange decision from the mods.

Well this is getting some rather excellent reviews so think I need to consider this. Although I'm not a big fan of RPGs and I couldn't get into Diablo at all. I did love the KOTOR games though so is this more in the vein of that or Diablo?

Have you played either of the Baldur's Gate games, or Icewind: Dale?

If you enjoyed these then you should like Dragon Age.

The only issues I have are cutscenes sometimes take a few seconds to load, but I've put that down to the fact I'm playing on a laptop with a slow hard disk.

Question guys - I am confused by this typically crap Limited Edition bonuses lark that is infesting more and more games now and making things even more complicated.

I bought the normal version of Steam for £30. Am I entitled to any bonus items? In the main game menu there is a DLC button that contains two items with a XBox Live like points cost of around 1200 something. What does that refer to?

Even Forza3 I found confusing with all the limited edition bonus rubbish, and apparently for DA you have to sign up for accounts and two different sites for some reason? I'm just confused about the benefits...

Well, I've sorta got used to the combat and I'm enjoying the game a lot more now. I've just got Sten in my party, along with Alistair and Morrigan. Sten's a beast, he does like 60 damage per hit. (I bet all you high level players are laughing at me right now :o)

No you're not entitled to anything.

You can "buy" points with real money, that you then spend on DLC.

Any new purchase should come with codes for the Stone Prisoner and the Blood Dragon Armour.

Try signing up for an ea account and one on the Bioware social network - player profile. Register your game online and you should get the option to download some DLC.
