The 4870X2 doesn't overclock well, at least mine doesn't. :) Think the voltages are about as high as they can readily go on the 4870 cards.

£500 notes for a gfx card - crazy! What do they say about fools and their money?

I personally would not spend more than £200 tops - even though I could splunk £500 I would'nt.

I wonder it will clock as well as the single cards? IIRC the 4870x2 didn't.

Probably not as well, I'd imagine, no. Although I think it'll do better than the 4870 X2 in that department, as the 4870 itself isn't a particularly great overclocker. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get at least 850MHz on it, at any rate.

Ummm, why would the Fermi launch being delayed make me weep??

I am in no hurry whatsoever to upgrade my GPU, and I am not SET on buying a GT300, I just want them to be released so I can actually have a decent choice between which GPU I put in my system next.

I am not a fanboi of nvidia or ati..

Once the GT300's get released, I will wait for a good while to see how all the early adopters get on with their cards, and I will read up all the reviews, and if they end up being crap, I will get an ATI card, if they end up being great, I will probably buy a GT300.

I don't care for all this fanboyism that goes down on all PC enthusiast forums, I will buy the card that performs the best, whether it be ATI or nVidia..

You will never have a top-of-the-range gfx card then will you?

Pointless post tbh, no-one cares how frugal you are.

Despite what you think, he's still entitled to his opinion of that, regardless of how much you think he's wrong.

It's funny, people explaining how they're not fanbois creates just as much spam as actual fanbois, if not more. :p

ATI are really trying to milk this situation with nvidia not around to compete.
They came out a bit fast, no?!

? I'm not sure what you mean, surely you're not suggesting they should sit on cards that are ready to ship and make money, just because nvidia's next gen is delayed ? that would just be daft.

Besides the 5970 is designed to take the performance crown unanimously, cos at the moment there are still people beating the "my GTX295 get 5fps more than the 5870" drum. The idea of releasing the 5970 is that ATI can say we are fastest, so ordinary joe's think I want an ATI card now and pop to the shops and get a 5750 and feel really happy they have the fastest GFX card in the world.

As for milking it, Christ knows they need to and why the hell not ?
