Lucky Seven Lottery Winners - made me chuckle

Do you not find it even SLIGHTLY amusing that someone has won 6 million and they want to run out a buy a Corsa?

Personally my first reaction was definitely lol, but then she's a young girl with no interest in cars and may want to spend £40k on some horses and stables instead of a vehicle, so the lol quickly evaporated to 'meh, whatever suits her needs best'.

What's the point in even entering the lottery if you weren't going to go a 'little mad' if you won a truckload of money?

To be secure for life and buy things she wants when she wants without ever having to work another day, like maybe a brand new Corsa? Maybe she'll spend the money you would've spent on a car on a house or another hobby.

Yes because spending 30k on a car is really going to limit her hobby options in the future.....

With an interest figure of around 1k per day on 6 million it really isn't even a consideration.

Just stop for a moment, put your keyboard down, and think.

If you won the lottery, do you think:

A) You would take a while to get used to having enough money to buy what you want when you want it and not have to save for it like you have for your life upto this point.

or

B) You would instantly spend stupid amounts of money and frit it away before you know it's gone. Let's be fair £6 million isn't that large a sum of money once you start living the millionaire lifestyle.

Your again assuming she thinks like you do, what is up with some people?

I'm sure once she has some financial advice on the matter she will get more astute but for crying out loud, she is a 19 year old girl who works in a call centre, not some well off bint with a silver spoon in her mouth. She is no doubt not used to having money to burn.

Where did I say it would limit anything? The point is she clearly has no interest in cars whatsoever, so is just buying something new that she's always liked. Maybe she'll go "a little mad" buying something else that you would probably tut at?

So if you won the lottery you'd go and spend £30k on rare antiques just because it 'doesn't limit your hobby options in the future', even though you weren't remotely interested in rare antiques?

Seriously, what are you talking about?

B)

However...

I'd spend it on everything I wanted within 6 months. By this time though I'd have a business setup to make me even more money (Beautiful money mwahaha ((rubs hands))) :D (Edit: I'm getting all excited now... I wouldnt spend all of it, probably around £500,000 then live off interest/business earnings)

So business, house and car(s). Though the waiting list for a 458 Italia is around 2 years? :(

This 'Alex' boy/girl clearly doesn't dream.

I and many others have a 'what to do with £6mil if I ever aquire it' list

So why doesn't she go and spend £10k on the latest PC, just because she can, even though she holds absolutely no interest in having a decent PC? It makes no sense.

Lets be honest, its hardly complex stuff i'm sure even those with half a brain can figure this out....

Yes I can figure it out, but pause for a moment and consider winning a life altering amount of money, is it going to instantly alter your perception of money or do you think it will take a while to sink in you can afford anything you want?

I suggest you read my post and take it in context.

I said spending 30k on a car is hardly going to limit her what hobby she wants to take up in later life, meaning it doesn't matter what money she spends on a car she will still have more than enough to also do whatever hobby she wants.

No i already know exactly what i would do with the money, because i've already planned out what i'm going to do when i sell up my share of several houses i have, granted its not even going to be close to the sum she won but still i have plans for large amounts of money in future life.

I'm quite frankly shocked she hasn't gone and spent £40k on a professional SLR and lenses, after all, I want one and it'd be one of the first things i'd buy. She's clearly stupid to not want one.

Damn right the stupid bint. :D

Cars are different though as it's pretty much a necessity to get around.

You want to make it either as easy and as comfortable as possible or if you are into performance, then as fast and as raw as possible.

A Corsa delivers neither of those things.

Indeed, but if she has no interest in cars, she'll have no idea what cars do offer those things.

All she knows is that she has been saving up for a Corsa and now she can have one. She could probably barely name another 5 cars so when it's the first thing she gets asked, she just answers what she knows.

Ok, well in that context, what would you say if she said 'I've always wanted a good camera so I'm going to treat myself to a Nikon Coolpix L20'?
