Had a bit of a shock today when my neighbour asked me to have a look at their new pc as it was "running slow"
Bless them they obviously dont know anything about PC's bar how to turn them on and basic use. They had bought a PC from a local backstreet PC shop for general home use and occasional gaming for £250 inc of monitor mouse+ keyboard.
When I sat down and started looking at its spec I nearly died inside. Its a p4 2.8 with 512mb mem and a x800xt running win 7 RC and their son had been trying to play GTA 4 on it which they were assured by the shop owner it would run fine.
Needless to say im going to the shop with them and this "PC" on monday morning to A) demand the money back b) knock the guys block off for being such a scheming little rat
It still shocks me people get away with this kind of thing still, he makes such highstreet retailers (purple shirts) actually look half decent with what they sell.
Anyone else come accross little scrotes like this Shop owner before? Also any advice re dealing with the little rat. Im sure hes in some violation selling a pc with Win 7 RC surely?
Basically your are wasting your time, they went to a shop and asked for a general purpose PC and they had that budget. What did the shop owner have in teh way of choices, and what did they like about that one?
Care to post a pic of the machine, what are the actual components, motherboard, hard drive etc? Was it second hand? A mix of old and new? Built for them? I guess he would have had to intall the OS and configure it all with drivers and such? Was any of the cost labour for downloading and installing the RC OS? Personally I don't see why there is a problem? Is he a second hand shop or a charity? Did he have loads of stock to get rid of or what?
So when you get them their money back, are you going to build/buy them this GTA 4 capable machine with an OS/monitor/periphials for £250? Let us all know as I have a few friends who would like such a budget wonder!
What makes you think the guy is a scheming rat? do you have a breakdown of his finances and proffit margins? Video evidence of his plot against these neighbors and the dastardly plan he hatched to thwart them from their precious £250?
What is he getting away with that is so shocking? Is it not more shocking that the customers did no investigation whatsoever into what they may need? After all there is the internet, not to mention all those magazines, and there son who plays GTA 4 and I guess other games on the PC (did they ask the shop owner to install this for junior)?
I wouldn't be too bothered about dealing with him, more yourself, after all your the one getting worked up about it and wanting to hit people, and regardless of new or second hand, it is a RC OS and they may have asked for it to be installed?, I would only be concerned if they had paid for the OS.
