HI
NEW TO THIS FORUM I HAVE A Q9550 AND A ASUS STRIKER 2 FORMULA MOBO 8 GIG OF CORSAIR 1066 DOMINATOR RAM. AND A XSPC 450 DELTA WATERCOOLING KIT BEEN PLAYING AROUND OVERCLOCKING THE CPU MANAGED TO GET IT TO 3.6 GHZ WITH 1.3VOLTS TEMPS ARE WELL OK SEEM TO HAVE HIT A WALL WONT GO STABLE OVER 3.6 SHOULD I BE HAPPY WITH AND STOP BEING GREEDY

WHAT THE HELL IN THAT CASE WHY OVERCLOCK AT ALL ONE ALWAYS WANTS EXTRA SPEED

Nice edit, better than calling him a mupet anyway. The info about posting in capitals was valid and goes for almost all forums. It's makes it harder to read as words lose their shape, which the brain uses to recognise words quickly.

Overclocking P45 with 8gb of ram is difficult. It'll go past 3.6, but you're going to have to learn about the process and spend time on it.

As your first post was a ramble in capital letters and your second insults the first two people to reply while still using capitals, I have no intention of helping you with this.

thanks fella! not played with the ram timings much its set at 506 i think thats double pumped and 5 5 5 15 timimgs, nb voltage 1.5, cpu voltage 1.3, and fsb 423 which is quad pumped i believe, to tell you the truth if i had done more research wouldnt have got a asus strkier mobo would have got a asus p5k i think

you wont be made too welcome here with a attitude like that bud, keep it friendly will you.

anyway back to your original question, you wont see a massive difference going any higher.

3.6ghz - 3.8ghz, benchmark numbers only
3.8ghz - 4ghz, again you will only see benchmark numbers increase
4ghz - 4.2ghz etc etc

settle at 3.6ghz, its a good overclock.

ps, ive had my Q9550 at 4.5ghz, but yes the ram will hold you back.

ok toon mad! i am pretty happy at 3.6ghz its well stable and nice cool temps a lot better than q6600 i used to have i believe thats down to it being a 45nm rather than 65nm

right then, ram is likely the limiting factor here, espeically if your using all dimms.

could you post your overclock settings for north bridge (mch), south bridge (ich0), VTT etc etc.

you may need to increase the north bridge voltages a bit, and possibly your ddr voltages.

dont go up in huge steps though, just bump them up slightly one at time. if you could post up your bios settings first though and we can maybe advise what you need to tweak.

fair enough point taken just couldnt understand someone on a overclocking forum saying why do i need extra speed i mean come on

Why are you benchmarking? Overclocking for games??? If so depending on the cpu and card is it worth it because you are putting all the extra strain on your cpu for no reason.

striker ay

wow you would be lucky to get anymore or maybe I m wrong meh lol, anyway like other have stated RAM

meh suspended anyway
