What will beat an overclocked 5850 for roughly the same price? had too many problems with it for my liking and its not performing as good as i liked on a 1900x1080 resolution.

my board can crossfire at both x16 lane speeds which i should really look to utilise (never done a crossfire setup before though).

i dont even know if it has to support DX11, i still cannot for the life of me see the different between DX9 and DX10 :o

so what would you suggest? if i can sell this 5850 for around £210 and maybe put another £40 towards new one, im looking at maybe £250.

Cheers

TBH your not going to find a better card than the one you have, where is the performance lacking? because its certainly not your CPU holding you back, the 5850 should be flying at your rez.

what games are you talking about, you probably arnt going to be getting better frame rates unless you get a 5870 or a gtx 295 or crossfire some 4890's maby..

if you check the reviews, you will see two HD5770 are up there with the best in most games ;) particularly overclocked

well i have a massive thread on all the problems ive had with my 5850,

on gta iv with resolution set to measly 1440x900, and most settings at high im lucky to get 45 fps, this is overclocked to 1025mhz on the core and 1172mhz on the mem.

running on windows 7 x64.

crysis is the same, at 8x AA i only get around 35 fps, ive seen others getting way higher then these figures. christ it lags in H.A.W.X and that should be easy to run.

forgot to add, stutters on these and even fifa 10 which uses a pretty out dated engine.

Just to let you know. Crysis and gta iv are 1 of the highest demanding game on the market. Really high spec pc's have trouble running this game all on max settings. Jumping from a 5850 to a 5870 wldn't really do you any good in thoes games for the price. It's just 1 of them games, nothing you can really do about it.

there probly two of the worst games in the world and will probly play exellent around the year 2015

You want decent FPS in GTA, get an i7. I was disappointed with my frames with my Q6600 @ 3.8, then I seen a few utube vids with guys with a 5870 and an i7 @ 3.9, he was averaging 60, whilst I was doing 40...

Sounds like a software issue to me. I was having all sorts of troubles with the 9.10 drivers and Vista 64.

Upgraded to Windows 7 64 and the 9.11 betas and all is running very nicely now. Have you tried the betas yet and as a last resort a reformat?

it was a great<forget that, it was a massive improvemt for me going from a core2duo to an i5 750 for gaming, need for speed shift problems i had with my c2d were really bad, stuttery all the time this was with crossfire 4850 so should have demolished the game really, went and upgraded to an i5 and everything is sweet with 1 4850(now running a 5770 and thats sweet as aswell)

Yeah my NFSS performance is bad as well, I check out a guy on utube with an i7 @ 3.9 /5870 and he never goes below 60 FPS even with tons of cars in front of him, same scenario with me and I'm doing 34-40 FPS. Happy I have an i7 920 and rampage extreme on the way.;)
