Finished watching Hatsukoi Limited this evening ... hmmm ... as a series it has some obvious good points :p and they were a bonus as the main reason it was in my to watch list was because I really like its OP and ED theme music. Series is all about the relationships between characters (which becomes quite a tangled web) but is pretty light and is quite amusing in places. Not really one for the Naruto and Bleach crowd though ;)

Been reading Ichiroh! and G.A. volumes 2 this week, both make me wish once again that Yen licensed the A__a manga instead of TokyoPop ... both volumes are really, really well presented and the use of colour in G.A. gives the feel of a high quality release. An A__a release with the same form factor and colour pages (it's obvious from the styles which pages were originally in colour) would have been awesome. Both these series are good in a slightly odd way with G.A. having obvious parallels with Hidamari [Sunshine] Sketch.

Probably have a bit of action in the form of Canaan next (although I do need to finish re-watching Moonphase too).

edit: I see the artwork for YUA S2 Pt2 is up on AoDVD :D

I really enjoyed Hatsukoi Limited as well seeing as it's by Mizuki Kawash_ita, who also did Ichigo 100%. I love the ending song seeing as it is by the same group, marble, did the KimiKiss: Pure Rouge opening song as well.

Now that two of her works have been adapted, I wonder if Ane Doki will get the same treatment sometime in the future. Can never get enough of the Toujou/Misaki/Natsuki character design.

FINALLY got around to reading Berserk.

God I wish I hadn't put this off so long, I'm only up to Volume 12 and it is the best thing in the world, amazing story line, brilliant characters, really gruesome art and a really dark tone.

This is what manga is SUPPOSED to be.

Also is it just me or is Skull Knight the single most epic character ever even though he has next to zero screen (page) time? He's just awesome!

Yeah that's pretty much par for the course :p, it is still amazingly awesome though, it starts in medias res and I think it goes back to the beginning of the story near the end of volume 3.

Don't expect lovely niceness, you won't get any.

If you like relationship anime, watch Kimi ni todoke. It's really fun and enjoyable.
Yep I'm loving it at the moment. "Sadako" is just adorable and having Mamiko Noto voice her seems to be a perfect match for the character.

3rd and finale season of Nodame Cantabile, appropriately named Nodame Cantabile: Finale is scheduled to air next spring. It's one of my absolute favourite romance series, and great use of Classical music and Orchestra as it's central theme.

I agree, Kimi ni Todoko is turning out to be pretty good so far this season, it's one of the few shows I am still watching week by week instead of saving it for a marathon once it has finished airing.

It is pretty funny whilst still being quite harsh about the treatment of the main character at times and there have be points which have been quite hard to watch, (e,g, when the main character finally sorted things out with two of the other characters last week).

I'd second the recommendation for people who like that sort of thing and will be interested to see how they progress things further.

(typing slowly as I'm rather p'd at the moment) I've never really got that much into Nodame Cantabile (which is a bit odd as I come from an orchestral backgroud) .... I've read the first volume of the manga but I don't think I have seen any of the anime (although I am aware that the R3 release has English (dub/sub?) included in it's release.

I'm really not sure why I haven't looked at it further though ...

Well I just finished reading all of Berserk so far and well...

It's hard to say what I think of it, until now the only manga I have read consistently is Naruto and Bleach and recently D.Gray Man and well....comparing them to something like Berserk would be like comparing a lump of coal to a diamond the size of Belgium...

There is no single thing that makes Berserk good, it has everything, the art is utterly brilliant, very harsh and at times pages can have a lot going on but it never gets cluttered (See D.Gray Man especially for examples of cluttered art). The writing is also brilliant, though unfortunately the translations I have read are rarely perfect, it still out does most fantasy novels I have ever read. The characters are unparalleled in terms of depth and emotion, you find yourself connecting with them almost instantly, within a few volumes I found myself loving and hating characters (I think I hated Griffith from the word go the smug self righteous ****). It's hard to explain that you really start to feel emotion for the characters, towards the end especially I felt so much empathy towards Guts that it was actually hard to read some of the more character based sequences regarding him and Caska.

Any who, anyone remotely interesting in either Fantasy or just amazing stories in general I urge you to read it, it is quite long at this point (the only reason I got through it so quickly is I have been off work and had nothing better to do), you will not be disappointed.

You should also check out Kaoru Kurimoto's Guin Saga as this was said to heavily influence Berserk's creator, Kentaro Miura.

There was also a 26 anime adaption this year from April to September, and the soundtrack was also scored by Nobuo Uematsu.

Check it out when you have the time.

There is also the live-action drama adaption which came before the anime went into production as well. One of the directors of the Densha Otoko TV drama series helmed this, so you can see a certain style and quality to it that is very similar from both of them, and not to mention some familiar actors playing some roles.

@memyselfandi
How many episodes are there in the Yotsoba manga mate?
Trying to decide if i like it enough to order the rest (oh and best place to get from if i do please? )

Currently Yen have re-released volumes 1-5 (originally released by ADV Manga) and have released volume 6. Volume 7 is due in December with volume 8 due around March/April time which bring the English release almost up to date, (there have been 8 volumes released in Japan but I'm pretty sure that it is still coming out in one of the magazines so I'd expect at least another further volume if not more). Other sources are up to chapter 62 but I am not sure how that's mapping onto the books (I think thats 8+ volume wise).

I ordered mine from UP who are currently showing as having 1,2 and 5 in stock and the others available in 7-10 days (which depends on when they get a delivery after they order them (I suspect from TRSI)). The Rainforest UK site has volumes 3 and 4 in stock (go for the Yen Press edition for consistency ('09 release)) but not volume 6 (be careful as the volume 6 that is in stock is in German).

Finished watching Canaan which I thought was very good and left open enough for another series in the future. Also re-watch Aoi Hana which is a nice and gentle series where practically nothing happens.

So more than 8 vols you reckon? Thanks for the info
Aoi Hana i saw about 2 months ago ,nice series but as you say not a lot happening(when i first found it i was hopeing for something like marimite but it did not happen :(
Finished my strawberry panic boxset last week, all discs played fine no more scratches found on the remaining discs either
About halfway through princess lover atm, reminds me a little of hanayoukyo maid team and a few others

Yeah it wasn't bad, ep10 was dvd quality by mistake :p

Just finished watching rosario 2nd series, didn't think it was as good as the first series though and have now moved on to pandora hearts.

I'm also (finally) giving boxee (windows alpha) a trial run, it seems to have a fair few anime listed in the 'joost' section and theres also a plugin for crunchyroll which is reasonably good (the screen doesn't lose the controls). If you haven't tried it it may be worth a trial run.

I see that Funi have announced they have Sekirei and Birdy the Might Decode as well as now having the license for FMP and FMP Fumoffu (both of which they are looking at releasing on BR)

Never got on well with Joost as a streaming service ... just didn't tend to work well for me ... I do just use Crunchyroll full screen though.

joost always seemed to work fairly well for me, I used it before it went web based. Funimation had some listed in boxee.
I can remember rumbling hearts was listed in joost along with a few others, baldr ex was another.

I'm now kind of waiting on adobe flash to come out of beta (and fully support ati hd4550's) and I may feel crunchy is worth paying for as I'll finally be able to watch it without killing my cpu's :)

Just wish that dxva was fully supported in boxee, it isn't at present but it may be a worthwhile app for my htpc when it gets it as it will have all my vids in not just used for streaming like at present. But then it is still alpha on windows.

The PC I tend to watch CR on is probably the least powerful of the ones here, (it's got something like a skt939 x2 4200+ in it), and that plays back CR full screen with out any issues that I've noticed.

Anyway ... watched the Eureka 7 movie earlier. Hmmmmmm. I like the series, but the film doesn't work for me on several levels. Firstly if you like the series then the changes in the film seem confusing at first and then just plain wrong ... but secondly if you don't know the series then there isn't enough background given for the story being told to make much real sense ... for instance if you hadn't seen the series then the old man and the kids at the end would be fairly meaningless.

The film has good points, I'd imagine it was good on the big screen, but it just doesn't "work" for me ...
