My issue was that the original post compared our immigration policy with that of Iran, China etc as if to say that they've got it right and we've got it wrong.

The thing is.. I'd rather get it wrong in our way than their way.

Think your right about the loan, but being someone who has been trying to get a council house for nearly 3 years now(I'm not a scummy chav or anything, just can not afford to buy a house) I am disgusted with the way houses are allocated to people, basically I have to be either:

1. A Heorin Addict
2. Single parent with lots of kids
3. Immigrant
4. On The dole
5. Chav

Now i'm sorry, but I pay my all my taxes, all my council tax, I claim no benefits, but I can not get a house? WTF! There is a polish girl at our work who recently moved to scotland and was given a 2 bedroom house in under 2 weeks? I've been paying a crazy amount of money for a private let and still waiting to get a house?

The clue to why you have no house is in your post! You're able to pay your taxes, your rent and you don't need benefits. That puts you at the bottom of the list for needing a council house!

Not having a go at you btw. Just pointing out that there are a limited number of houses and therefore they have to prioritise them.
