I think everyone here is getting fed up of all the "l4d2 is just a mod" talk.

So, lets form a list of 50 things that makes L4D2 a true sequel to L4D1 and not just a mod.

Just name everything and anything that is new in L4D2 that isn't in L4D1 or wasn't featured in l4d1 from the start.

I'll start.

50. chainsaw
49. frying pan
48. baseball bat
47. cricket bat
46. katana
45. guitar
44. crowbar
43. machete
42. Grenade Launcher
41. boomer pile
40. adrenaline shot
39. All 5 campaigns are VS compatible

you get the idea.

I see 12 reasons :)

I couldn't care less if it is a mod, they need to sell something at the end of the day. Just don't believe anyone saying they'll give away free stuff they haven't made yet again.

88. First time weather effects have been used in a FPS as a dynamic gameplay element.

P.S, why are you counting down from 100 for "50 reasons"? :p

36. Carnival Games

Feeling a bit slow at the moment but there is loads of new guns

You guys know that Valve left in so me old unused uncommon common? Jimmy Gibbs Jr. was one (1000hp), as well as "The Fallen Survivor" who bursts into flames and everything around it when shot (molotov strapped to chest)? My mind was blown.

Wut?

I like the idea of this thread, but can see it just quickly getting turned in to a "All I see is 50 mods" kinda thread.
I think people just have to agree to disagree, to me its a heavily modded l4d1 but heavily enough to warrant spending my cash on it and calling it l4d2.

Oh and

14: Fire Axe
13: l4d1 maps and chars are available to unlock with slight modding
12: Its got loads of my friends that I used to really enjoy playing L4d1 with that got bored of it back playing again.

12 to me is the clinch, its breathed new life in to something, and not only has it brought an old community back again, there are plenty of new guys and gals getting involved.

On the mention of Jimmy Gibbs Jr

Taken from Kotaku

Enterprising modder samm5506 was digging around in Left 4 Dead 2's code the other day when he stumbled upon a zombie model not found within the game itself. Dropping it into a level, he found it was none other than Mr. Jimmy Gibbs Jr. himself, who aside from being a particularly tough zombie, also brings out a few custom one-liners from the survivors, like Nick's "God damn that Jimmy Gibbs Jr.!".

To drop Gibbs into a game (PC version only, naturally), enable the console, then from the main menu enter these commands:

map atrium
sv_cheats 1
z_forcezombiemodelname common_male_jimmy
z_forcezombiemodel 1

Then have at him. The fact he's dead - and trying to bite your face off - makes stealing his car totally OK.

you can spwn Jimmy gibbs jr (from teh mall finale) he has 1k HP and cany be gibbed unfortunately.

And theres a fallen survivor uncommon who has ammo and Molotov on his chest shoot him in the chest and he drops a lvie molly which goes off.

both where removed though and the fallen survivor is buggy but they are there if someone wants to use them in mods.

10: When you get to a crescendo event in a map you can't just sit in the corner spamming melee like you did in L4D. You actually have to run from point A to B to disable something.

Someones not played L4D then?

Can't remember the name of the mission but the ending is in some car yard and you get into a DIY armoured van with teeth painted on it and drive off at the end.

You need to start a generator to get the lights on then halfway through the generator dies and you need to get back over there and restart it while the hordes keep trying to rape you.
