I played Battlefield BC 2...... and

What do you mean, get shot properly?
And whilst we're on the subject of gore, can you do me a favour and fire a rocket at someone's face. Do they just fall over?

He probably means the death animation is realistic.

As for prone, Im not too fussed, would be ok for snipers but its no big deal it being leftout. Im another one, although its only a game I hated b seeing people bounce and dive around the maps like lunatics. It looks ok in quake etc, but just looks out of place in games like these imo.

You've been talking about prone as if it turns a game into an automatic 'prone fest' or whatever, and I'm just illustrating that it's not true. If Modern Warfare has the feature and it's not being exploited in the way you say it would be, if it were featured in Bad Company 2, why have DICE not been able to implement something similar?

I dunno, im not Dice so maybe its something you want to ask them?

I've played 1942, 1943, 2142 & BF2. This is as much fun as BF2 as far as I'm concerned. I hate the PS3 controller ( so the sooner it appears on the pc the better ) but its still very enjoyable and better than BC1 imho.

People die quicker, more like BF2, but not the 1-3 shots of MW / MW2 ( which I'm not a fan of as they remind me of CS / CS:S )

The new kit loadout setup is more flexible than BC1, which allows for more choice.

Hit detection seems pretty good so far, for the most part. I imagine dedi servers on the pc will improve this once people tweak them to suit.

No prone, so no dolphin diving, which can only be a good thing...

As far as I'm concerned it can't come out soon enough. MW / MW2 get very boring... very fast. Roll on the Pc beta.

Your telling me it takes more than 1-3 bullets to kill someone? That the most frustrating thing about any FPS, unless the game in question in set out to be arcade esque like TF2.

People dont die quick enough in COD or even CS:S for that matter unless you get a headshot. If you get shot in the back three times in a real battle, the chance of you turning around and killing your attacker and still surving to tell the story is slim to none.

I realy can't stand games where it takes half a mag to drop someone. I've never play a BF title on the PC as i'm new to PC gaming, and i've heard a lot of promise and good things sad about BF:BC2. But i'm having second thoughts now.

Is it worth pre-ordering it for £25? Or do you think it will have special deals closer to release?

BF2 was always a little arcadey ( as was BF1942, BF1943, BF214, BC1 ) and BC2 will be as well. That's why they are all enjoyable.

If people were to die any quicker in COD4, then all weapons might as well be single shot kills, as its not far off that atm. You're lucky if you can get your iron sight up on someone before you're dead.

How quickly you die / kill someone in an fps is very subjective. Some will agree, others will not. To me, the time taken in BC2 is about right - quicker than BC1 & very similar to how I remember BF2 to be ( when the hit detection decided to work )

I guess I like my games to be a little more realistic then, In Cod 4, people can survive 2 bursts of a M16, so thats 6 bullets in total and they are still running around.

Snipers should at least kill in one shot if its to the head or torso.

Jesus some times it used to take forever to down someone in bf2 with the dire hit detection, thats what put me off from playing in the end. Yes my aim fine

That's quite reassuring actually, I used to feel like I was shooting into air... Sometimes it was so so difficult to kill people in Battlefield 2. :s

The hit detection was one of the worst things about BF2.

From watching the vids, I get the feeling that shellshock may actualy result from playing! The sounds and effects are incredible!

Yeah the sounds are very impressive, its not the usual stuff you hear in games where explosions are concerned, these sound like something taken from a movie.

Also like some of the effects like tanks kicking up sand when firing a shell.

Thats exactly why i loved the first one

If only more games were like this sound wise, if their was a game that set the benchmark for sound design like crysis did for graphics it would be bad company 2 :D

Play on hardcore mode then.

I played Hardcore mode mainly, as after all it was a lot fairer, you shot someone they died, you got shot you die. Well most of the time becuase some people still seem to endlessly walk through bullets.

Problem with hardcore, it rewards those who camp.

Plus I dont see why we need a separate mode to make bullets actually kill you and on top of that, MW2 only has HC deathmatch :(

You do get 1 hit kills with the sniper rifle as long as its a head shot, i was pulling of some nice headshot kills in the beta on saturday, took down a few runners with it, the main sniper gun does the most dmg but has bolt action so u need to reload after every shot, so it pays to be accurate, the 2nd gun is faster fireing but lower dmg.

next theyll remove shooting from fps games as its unfair to the people who cant shoot you :D

this is the most annoying thing in war fps games a lot of people arnt happy until they have camo on sitting in webbing in there living room  its a game not a real war :D bunny hopping or jump shooting which is what it is really is part of fps gaming. just as dolphin diving is and other stuff like LEAN :p

all your doing is everytime features like mentioned are taken out is making it one step closer to a joypad :(

demo soon so ill have a play for free first anyways.
Nobody asked Battlefield to become a sim, but some of us want it to have a wiff of real combat about it.

There is a reason TF2 looks like it does, because it's a fantastically bizarre universe where anything can and should happen, including bunny hopping, rocket jumps, jars of wee and whatever you fancy, while Battlefield has always been dressed up in the guise of the real world, albeit brilliantly exaggerated.

Jumping and going prone mid air every single opportunity you get looks ridiculous and only succeeds in tearing you away from the illusion that you are in a battlefield.

Quite simply what I am saying is bunny hopping, dolphin diving and all those other ridiculous "skills" belong in games where it doesn't look completely out of place (that will be your quake or TF2 or whatever). BC2 will be a far superior and immersive experience without all that rubbish. Dice invites the likes of you and your kind to convert or go elsewhere.

Can't wait for this, I loved BF2 and 2142, both in their own ways. I'm playing MW2 atm, but as soon as this comes out it shall replace it easily.
