Gay Sex Scene in Dragon Age: Origins.

You need to re-examine your thinking on this imo. Your first post comes across as homophobic to me...

Or did you get equally hot n bothered about the explicit GTA sex scenes that kids could easily get access to? Or is it merely the gay sex scenes that bother you?

I'm sorry, I must have missed the thread you started against the straight sex scene with the witch chick?

I assume your outage and "omfg think of the children" pleas were equally as forthcoming?

It's in this thread and yes it was equally forthcoming.

Express a view that goes against the "popular" view point and immediately everyone resorts to insulting you. Very typical.

And all the homosexuals that you're making out to be un-natural and wrong won't be insulted by your homophobia?

Just seems like you're after some magical candy land where anything unsuitable from children is censored entirely, and the responsibility of what children see lies with the content providers, rather than the parents.

Thanks - so you basically only posted about the straight sex *after* creating this thread about the gay sex scene, even though the former has been known about for weeks?

Come on dude, it's 2009 - shape up or ship out!

So you are saying that it is ok for computer games - which we know and accept children are going to get their hands on - to contain scenes of sex (gay or otherwise)?

Adults also play games. If the game is aimed at an adult market then I see no problem with it containing adult themed material. If the concern is children getting hold of the game then the issue is not the game, the issue is poor parenting. Much like the issue with kids getting hold of 18 rated DVDs. So if you don't want your kids to see it, don't let them. If you don't want other people's kids to see it, talk to their parents. Adult themes in adult media, please don't try and sanitise things.

Call me a fuddy-duddy but I would rather no see this kind of thing.

Don't buy the game? Much like with films like Saw etc, I didn't watch them because I didn't want to see the scenes in it. However I didn't try to stop other people watching it because I didn't want to see the scenes in it.

A few years ago my opinion might have been different, but with a kid of my own on the way I seem to have got more conservative in my views.

I also have a child, it bothers me not a bit. I have probably become somewhat more liberal since having a child because I do not want to see her freedoms restricted when she gets older because other people think that "they know best".

At the end of the day it is only a sex scene, it isn't a graphic one and you have to make quite a bit of effort to see it. Not to mention it isn't going to mentally damage your child to be aware that homosexuality exists as they are certainly going to become aware of it as some point.

I only posted about it after because I only found out about it after....

If it is an alternative lifestyle that should not be promoted, does that mean that being gay is fundamentally wrong?

Firstly, no, it isn't. Secondly, it's a mature rated game and it shouldn't be in the hands of young children anyway. What an odd rant.

All right, I apologise.

I accept your apology :)

Typical of this place really, express a view that goes against the "popular" view point and immediately everyone resorts to insulting you. Very typical.

Can you not see how offensive the "opinion" you are making. What next ban women from games? Ethnic minorities?

What would you do if your child turns out to be gay? Would you disown them?

Its not a conservative view its plain bigotry disguised in an out of date phrase. I would expect better from a parent, I would actually be disappointed in your narrow and offensive view if i were your child. I am embarassed for you and your child :o

Of course it matters if the kids can get the game! What kind of nonsense statement is that? However as the vast majority of games players are twenty something heterosexual males, isn't putting scenes of this kind into computer games pandering to the minority "pink pound"?

I also curious to know if those in this thread defending the scene and who have the game are now going to go and view this scene and/or would be happy for their kids to see it....?

Just the claim that their lifestyle is any less normal than a hetrosexual one would wind up a load of people I know.

obvious alternative life style promotion

pandering to the minority "pink pound"?

Wasn't a rant per se, was just posting an opinion.

Yes, of course it is. It's a game designed for and markested to adults, are you suggesting no films or TV shows should contain any adult themes? Shall we ban page 3?

What about bikinis on the beach, that can't be suitable for under 12s surely?

I suggest you take a look a few posts back where I actually de-cried a lesbian scene in another game. Suggesting I would masterbate over such a thing is verging on the slanderous - and says a lot about the type of person you are.

Requesting a name change to Flanders. Nobody is actually as conserative as you appear to be outside of Alabama, surely?
