What frying pan to get the missus for xmas?

I don't care what a woman asks for I would Never buy her a household item for xmas it's just not right.
I would go as far as saying that if she accepts such a gift without kicking off then you are married to your sister not your Lover/wife/soul mate.

I think it's good that she's accepted her duty in life. Perhaps buy her some smaller shoes so she can get closer to the sink too.

Good call on the Wok however, I think she wants more of a flat base to fry on as opposed to frying on the sides of a Wok. Also doesn't a Wok need to be properly seasoned etc for that authentic chinese flavour, I don't know.

I'm currently looking at this as an example http://www.housemakers.co.uk/epages...ousemakers/Products/E9848842&ParentID=1160748

around £50 is our budget

Get a large Wok and your flat base to fry on isn't an issue anymore. ;)

To season the Wok brush the surface with sesame oil and bake in a moderate oven for about an hour. The oil runs to the bottom of the Wok in the oven so do the sides over a hob for another 15 mins.

Bacon fat is great for rubbing into the wok before adding the oil, and never wash it in soapy water. Ever. :D

Tefal hotspot, it's the best frying pan I've ever had bar none, hence I now have two!

What he said.

I have several Tefal Hotspots and think they are great - good for cooking and very easy to clean. Just remember to oil them after washing to protect the coating.

I would suggest you get a nice cast iron frying pan.

We've recently got cast iron sauce pans and they're great, they were around £40-50 each, but most definitely worth it.

They way the iron retains the heat is great, I've found with any other pans, they tend to only really properly heat up directly where the flame's making contact, where as a cast iron pan will heat up uniformly which is a plus for cooking the food more thoroughly too.

Damn you, beat me to it :D

Have a Tefal hotspot set and they have been pretty good over the past 3 yrs. But metal utensils do cut up he surface coating so wood and plastic only on these.

She is winding you up! If you actually buy her a FRYING PAN (!) for Christmas she is going to banjo it across your face then ram it up your ********!

Get yourself an Anolon Professional, great pans :)

In that case you only have one option and God it's a good option

Raymond Blanc Anolon Professional Twin French Skillet Set Ref: 82377

HARTS Price: £49.95

Another vote for the Meyer Anolon professional range, they are utterly superb. I've got a few but the 24" Saute pan is useful for just about every recipe.

Spend the dosh, get a le creuset, nice heavy frying pans, great non stick coating and they'll last you forever.

The set I've got is a le creuset, great pans.

They will literally last forever as well as they have a life time warranty.

As for people who can't lift them, my mum uses them fine, she's 4'11 and not what I'd called strong even in the slightest, so I'm sure people complaining are just playing weak.
