**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Just a little heads up for people thinking of buying Dragon Age. It's available on Steam with a 25% discount for today (thursday) only.

For 25% off and the time you get out of the game its well worth the price, its not quite a BDG2 but its trying hard. Still will not touch Planetscape Tourmment for story and im not sure that any game will get it that right again tbh.

Well I was going to get this on the xbox for the achievements but I kept reading the PC version is better so I just ordered the deluxe one of steam for £29.99 :D

Theres no contest.
PC version is harder (the difficulty modes are harder)
PC version gets mods and hotfixes and all other custom content
Xbox version gets gamerscore... *cough*

If you want all the content you'd have to get the CE (is that still available now its released?), but i think the DDE version on Steam has Wardens Keep (but if your in the UK you lose the CE bonus items) which the CE doesn't include. In short the marketing for this game is utterly ****ing ridiculous and EA have done a brilliant job at making people give up and pirate the game instead. For £30 the Steam DDE is the best deal imo.

Blood Dragon Armor
Commissioned by an infamous Nevarran dragon hunter, this armor was crafted in a time when dragons had almost been hunted to extinction. Infused with their blood, the armor gained notoriety after the hunter died at the hands of men rather than the dragons it was designed to protect him from.
Grants exceptional protection in combat
Armor will be usable in BioWare's upcoming science fiction epic, Mass Effect 2

The Stone Prisoner
The darkspawn-infested village of Honnleath holds a secret: the forgotten stone figure at the town’s heart is a powerful golem frozen in time. Free the creature and reveal a storied quest to unlock its power and mysterious past.
Download The Stone Prisoner and gain access to Shale, a mighty stone golem who can join the party and travel throughout Dragon Age: Origins. One of the most powerful characters in the game, Shale comes with a rich back story, extensive voice acting, and a unique follower quest to explore. The Stone Prisoner also includes new environments, items, and hours of additional gameplay that adds to the Dragon Age: Origins campaign.
A powerful new party member to aid in the epic quest to save Ferelden from the Blight
New areas, including the troubled village of Honnleath
New achievements, items, and unique insights into the Dragon Age: Origins storyline
Thats what I got with the DDE, doesn't seem to be a CE on steam. Have I missed out on much as I don't have the CE?

Thats really rubbish, should have paid £10 more and got the CE from Game, would have got 3 pieces of exclusive in-game content - Bergens Honour, Grimoire of the Frozen Wastes and Final Reason.
Unlockable ME2 in-game item: Original purchasers of DAO will receive the Blood Dragon Armour which will be usable in both DAO and ME2.

Blood Dragon Armour is still in the DDE :S
The 3 CE bonus items aren't in the UK release of the DDE.

Getting the CE from Game wouldn't really of been any better. The international release included a tin box and cloth map, the UK release got **** all (plastic case and no map) and the DDE was given Wardens Keep as an incentive to buy the digital version if you lost the tin box/map.

Given that there were loads of other stupid things like the pre-order bonus item depending on who you ordered it from i wouldn't denounce just buying the DDE and getting the bonus items you should've got or were forced rather stupidly to choose from elsewhere.

I've decided to get this, which version is the best to buy ? I'd rather have a retail version not Steam for this kinda game :P But I still want the extra content.

The cheapest retail dvd you can find then if you don't want Steam. Then just buy the Wardens Keep DLC if you want to.

The only DLC out right now is the Blood Armour, Stone Prisoner and Wardens Keep. You get codes for Blood Armour and Stone Prisoner with any new purchase of the game.

Thanks for answering that mate.

Currently trying to do "Rescue the Queen". I hide in the bushes, but nothing happens :/ Is this a bug or is it intended?

Should probably be in the spoiler section. But i don't really remember doing that, i just stormed in and killed the guards and wandered into the building.

There's been far worse posted than that already. Reloaded the save and it worked, yay.

True true. Tends to work for a lot of things that, unfortuantely some bugs need you to travel back a long way... and i mostly rely on quicksaves so i'd be majorly boned if something happened.

Had a problem with the Dalish Origin story when i lost 1 of my party members i wasn't given the items i'd equipped him with... 4 DLC items lost forever. Luckily a search of the DA site found the solution for getting them back which works for the Dwarven Noble story when you lose stuff.

Guys,
I am thinking of purchasing this game but just wanted your honest opinion.

Is it a game that I will conitnue to play upon completion. I hate games where you complete it and think ah well its done lets get in on the bay.

I have both PC and X360 and am thinking if there are future updates/content etc its prob best on the pc, am I right in thinking this.

There are 74 pages on this thread so I assuming its half decent.
:D
