Mininova deletes all illegal material

The google defense doesn't apply (as per the TPB and mininova verdicts) due to the way these sites have presented themselves as sources of these sorts of material, and shown zero interest in policing the material (mininova) or actively refused to police the material (TPB).

But google makes zero attempt to police the same content:confused:

Type in any pc game/film/any digital media and put torrent/download/streaming behind it in google and it will find it for you.

There's no reason, technically anyway, that Hulu.com couldn't be made available worldwide - and I suspect in time this will come.

Not whilst the content cartels over in the USA control the media it won't. Anyway it is dead easy to get over here just by using a proxy. I do it all the time...

Oh and Google have made real attempts to address the images that can be readily searched using their engine. Lets face it the only way you can get images deleted is if they are objectionable ones of the Presidents wife.

The Micelle Obama photo is still there, you just need to better refine your search criteria.

For the vast majority of torrent users Usenet isn't the answer, they're used to getting things for free for near on 10 years now (if not more), I don't think many of them will be entirely happy with paying a monthly charge for the same end effect.

Not only that, but torrents are much easier to use for getting entire series of tv shows.

ISPs have no leg to stand on, we pay for our internet access and are as such allowed to use it as we please

They will have, its in most of their terms to provide a reasonable service for all.

So streaming will be trottled to hell.

Move ISP you say? That will be ok until everyone complains moves to the new ISP and then they can cope with the load either.

BW isn't cheap, and adsl is cheap, i would pay 30 pound a month if it meant no limits on what you browse or do.

LLU DSL already costs less than that and has no restrictions.

I thought everyone on OcUK was so good that they owned liciences for everything they downloaded like photoshop that you see open in so many screenshots on here ;) so it doesn't matter!

not really, tv series are posted in bulk on NG forums.

My brief relationship was Usenet saw me constantly struggling to find an entire series of a show without there being a bunch of files missing, so I gave up.

Torrents are a case of open file, click any files you wish to not download, and go to work.

That said, I'll probably have to move the NGs in the future just to be on the safe side, stupid showing so many shows MUCH later over here, or not at all.

Until they deem it "not acceptable use" and then you have no leg to stand on ;)

I always laugh when I see and hear people downloading illegal content period.
I try to explain to them the law etc...
However once they put their fingers in their ears I just take a step back and realise thieving scum with no morals will simply never listen.
I will give you several thousand (Zimbabwean) dollars if you can demonstrate how it is theft.

This really annoys me. i don't want to wait a year, if not longer (if its broadcast at all) to see what has already been aired elsewhere in the world. :(

At least, if something isn't going to be broadcast over here, can they not sell the damn thing via some sort of torrent system, so that people who want to watch it and are willing to pay to do so aren't left out?

You explain the law to them. This would be the law where they commit copyright infringement and yet you call them thieving scum when they have stolen nothing?
