Had my first off.

maybe u locked the front end up and tried to turn? i've done this on my crosser at an estimataited 35mph(granted i was on a motocross track.. dont know how this really helps :D), bike slid from udner me... just jump back on it mate it can only give you experience

I think this is what I could have done tbh. In the moment of panic I think I tried to turn and hit the break at the same time to get better road position.

Exactly what I did my first crash, never had to slam on in the wet before, too much front brake wet road tried to steer and down I went before I even knew what was happening :p

I have a question, if a bike has ABS can you get away with slamming the front brakes on as hard a possible, and not end up with your face in the road? Even on a mild corner for example?

Not on a corner, but in a straight line you should get away with it, depending on surface. It's not graceful but it does work.

Greasy roads, back wheel locking up. Easy to happen get back on it and get more experience can only hurt for so long.
