i thought it was larger than dday in as much as the initial amphibous opposed landing, overall dday put more troops into France but not from the opposed landings.
 
Pretty sure the paciffic landings dwarfed the europe Dday. Something like 6000 ships in 1 task force alone..

Looks amazing shame if sky get it it will be full of adverts. Wish the BBC bid on it.
 
Does look fantastic now. Can't wait for this.

The Pacific was always the secondary objective - the allies wanted to concentrate their forces on mainland Europe initially.
 
Just got my Sky mag today and it confirms that The Pacific will be on Sky Movies Premiere normal & HD without adverts and will air shortly after each US episode.

Awesome, I have Sky HD, a 1080p TV and movies subscription. :) :)
 
Looks fantastic, loved the "original" series. Had just the right mix of action and "stop and think" moments and characters were just excellent (well and real I suppose). Let's hope there's more of that to come from the Pacific.

It could be that Okinawa was the biggest amphibious landing in the pacific theatre and that the 8 million in the pacific was the biggest number of troops the U.S had in any theatre. Either way - they've seriously twisted the facts to add to the hyperbole.

I dont kniow the stats but just have a look at the Chinese side aswell. I guess you could class it Pacific since they faught japan
 
As much as I loved Band of Brothers and will most likely love this as well I can't help but wish someone would make a British version about our boys (and girls) who thought and died from the very beginning of WWII to the bitter end.
 
I so can't wait for this! i can't remember how many times i've watched BoB! ill have to invade somones house for Sky :P
 
Loved BOB this looks even better - can't wait fir a blu ray release - any idea how long that will be after the TV showing?
