Yup, just checked - Okinawa consisted of 60,000 troops in the initial landings, D-Day was 175,000.
Also, the estimated Soviet military losses for WWII appear to be over 10 million. If this is true then the total number of military personel on the Eastern Front dwarfs the 8 million fighting in the pacific.
It could be that Okinawa was the biggest amphibious landing in the pacific theatre and that the 8 million in the pacific was the biggest number of troops the U.S had in any theatre. Either way - they've seriously twisted the facts to add to the hyperbole.
