Paranormal Activity

I thought it was the worst most boring film I've ever seen, even worse than Starship troopers 2 at least that had boobs and spaceships. I give it 1/10, it only gets 1 because shes killed, putting and end to the most annoying voice in history. How anyone could find it remotely scary is beyond me, The wizard of oz is more scary than it.

Watch it at home, at night on your own.

This is how all horror movies should be viewed.

I've seen horror movies with other people in the house or during the daytime and the "chill factor" is next to zero. I don't think I've ever been frightened.

I've watched the same movies on my own, in the dark, at night and the chill factor goes off the scale. With horror movies, you simply have to watch them on your own.

I honestly can't see how anyone can be scared when watching a horror movie, in a big movie theater where there are many other people present.

If you want to see a scary movie, watch 'The Entity', at night, on your own. ;)

Indeed, I think this is why people seem to be having such varied reactions to this film, some people are watching it the 'right' way and some aren't. I watched it at home, on my own, with the lights off late at night. I can't say I was 'scared' as such, but it did linger with me for a long time afterward and gave me the 'looking over my shoulder' feel. Mostly what impressed me about the film was it's originality and it's total lack of 'Hollywood' in the effects, which is always a good thing. I really can't imagine enjoying it in a cinema setting at all though...

I completely agree, that's what i enjoyed about it. I saw it in the cinema and wasn't scared at all. I actually laughed quite a few times because of all the people (it was sold out) going "oh ****.......****!!" This may have been why i didn't find it scary. I might rent the DVD with the original ending because the one where Micah is thrown at the camera is pretty poor.

One more thing, can someone quickly explain to me what actually happens at the end when she goes downstairs and you can just hear screaming please?

Thats the genius, what must have been happening, that it was so horrible for someone to scream like that(and why didnt it wake the neighbours?).

edit: Thats another thing, you dont often hear(or ever) people scream like that in the movies.

Yeah he screaming was ace :D

Flare, there's so many possible answers to that, like maybe she sleep walks downstairs, wakes up, see him and mistakes him for ghost thing and stabs him, or - said ghost thing compels her to stab him, or - she's gone mad from lack of sleep and decided to kill him and the screaming was a distraction to get him to come down, or anything you want to imagine :p

Something like this is what i originally thought, that it was just a way to get Micah to come downstairs.

P.s. EVERYTHING IS CHRISTMASSY! :D:D:D

Rich, did you find The Grudge scary?

That's the scariest thing I've seen in the cinema to date, just wondering how this compares. I want to go and see it this week, but the gf hates scary films :/

I haven't seen the grudge in a long time, and I can't really remember it so probably didn't find it too scary.

I did love this film, just drag your GF along! It's fine! :p

I beleive her to be possessed before they go to sleep. I also think that most of the instances of her Sleepwalking she was under the influence of the Demon.
When Micah is telling her to leave and go to the hotel, she is unresponsive then says something along the lines of everything will be ok and then smiles eeriely directly at the camera.
I think that when she goes down the stairs that night, the Demon was in control and made her scream to attract Micah, then through her the Demon stabbed him.

I think that it was coming to Micah throughout the whole film as he was antagonising the entity from the start... Goes to show, don't try to be a hero! :p

Yeah that's how I chose to interpret it as well, she was under the influence of whatever was haunting her, and 'it' compelled her to lure the husband downstairs via the screams, then to kill him.

I don't know why they had to portray Micah as such a peenarse though, if they were trying for realism I would say 99% of men don't really act that way... it was set in America though :D

This is what i did originally think but some one was tellng me crap about how one of her friends walked into the house, saw the possessed womman (can't remember her named) and screamed for Micah. I didnt beleive it though.

You suck. What about the people that genuinely didn't find it scary (like me)? You believe that it's impossible not to find this film scary, and that anyone saying otherwise is employing some kind of faux internet bravado?

The film was lame.

I agree with this guy, I haven't even seen it but my wife has been going on at me about how scary it is, that people at her work have gone on about it etc etc... but since when has a scary movie scared you? (I'm talking to guys in there late 20s now).

I REALLY can't see this being as scary as people make out, I feel when I do see it that I will think you lot just over rated it.

I would like to be proved wrong but lets be honest, your a bunch of girls :D:p
