It's only 200 odd miles how is that a road trip?!

Hey guys did Plymouth to Birmingham the other week! :p

270 odd miles there followed by some driving around followed by 270 odd miles back again the next day seems like a road trip to me? Besides it's the spirit of the thing for me it's a road trip if the drive is half the reason your going, I regularly drive longer distances in the UK but would never refer to them as a road trip as the only reason for going is to get to the destination.

I have thought about doing an epic euro trip, but the cost would just be hillarious.

Ideally I'd hit as many countries as possible, ideally doing a track day on a major circuit in each country ...

I want to do another Euro road trip. Meant to be a lot of track in France. Need the Euro exchange rate to get a bit better :p

That's what's stopping me right now. Did the Student Brakeaway last year as well although the route back was different from Solid:

From Croatia we did

Prague
Luxembourg (Don't ask)
Nurburgring
Amsterdam

Enjoyment was vast :)

Surely its worth a tick in a box even if I only stay there for a day or so?
Yes 1-2 days is OK I guess, don't expect much though.

LV is good, SFO is good too, driving about is pretty boring but nice scenery.

Personally I have gone off road trips for now, they're a bit stressful.

Looong roads

Far too hilly to get good shots as long into the distance as that one but at least I was on the right side of the road which is a bonus :D

Less than £400 for 30 days.

Bargain.

(The Rand was up at 18.5)

I got my moneys worth too :D

Yeh worth it for ticking the box and seeing a few things, but personally I didnt think it was a nice place at all. Good for a few days I suppose. The driving isn't that great either really. LA, hideously congested, then the roads to LV, and SF if your inland are just ridiculously boring straight roads, with radar enforced speed limits of 100kmh or so.

LA to SF along the coast road would be a lot better though. Also if you can take in Yoesemite national park along the way that would be worth it. Lake Tahoe is pretty cool place too, but its a bit out of the way to where you are planning.

That totally, totally sucks.

Maybe I need to go to SA. Will I get shot?

Shot? Go to the "right" place and you sure have a good chance.

I don't know how I managed that deal. Most places were quoting me triple that. I got on the phone, convinced them to let me hire at 22 even though I could not wangle them down to a Credit and a Debit card, still needed 2 CCs.

The rand knocking on the door of 19 when I made the payment really helped though.

Oh, and when I was picking up the keys I said "There is some young driver payment to be made" and she said "What young driver payment"

Needless to say I did not make a fuss and left with my keys :D It was only like 20-30 quid so nothing huge.

Good trips. UK > Le Mans :)

Also done a trip round California starting in Vegas > Lake Tahoe > San Fran > San Diego, that is awesome fun!

Fox: LA is so so but Santa Monica and Santa Barbara were awesome when I was there in 2005. Enjoy!
