Killed my HDD... I think.

So, yesterday I dropped a can of coke and somehow, some managed to find it's way 2 metres across the room and land on the PCB of my HDD which was outside the case after I had been cleaning out the dust. This caused a blue screen and crash. Cleaned off the residue and left it to dry. Now, it is clicking and won't load anything. Is there a possible fix? Or even a way to retrieve my files if I buy a new drive? Ta. :)

I've done the good old switcharoo with the pcb's from a identical hd before. Which worked.

Depending on the value of the data, it's prob worth a try.
I allways buy HD's in 2's for this reason.

Although if you spill coke on the 2 hd's you're in the same situation :p

To be honest this happened to me once like 4 years ago and I couldn't recover anything... but then again I didn't understand anything back then either so...
