Mirrors Edge: Is it worth 3.24?

I have to play this again at the weekend. :)

@DG Oh yes, that sewer part, took me ages to work out how to get up there. :o

Some nice attention to detail. :p

If anybody has problems starting mirror's edge go into your documents, find tdengine (config) opens up with notepad, find resx and resy and change the resolution to the correct one you would normally use, fixed it for me anyway

Do any of the tricks work in the PC version? For example:

Jump hurdling - when you jump then bring your legs up as you're runnign along, gives you a 2mph speed boost when you do it.

Also strafing to the right or left, jumping and doing a 180 to the direction your moving (so you are now facing the way you jumped) put you straight to top speed.

Jump Hurdling = Jump and then crouch when you want :)

Strafing = Affirmative
Jumping & Doing a 180 = Jump and then press 'Q' :)

Yep but do they give the benefits I stated :p

Jump hurdling doesn't have to be done over anything, can just be done on flat land to speed you up. The strafe turn is incredibly useful when you have to roll from long falls or open doors. Very useful in the time trials and speed runs. I have the 360 version but I was wondering if they were 'mistakes' in that version or just a feature on all platforms.

Very interesting game. Got it in the Steam deal too.
Only issue so far was on the 2nd level. When the police shot the glass my frames dropped to around 5fps. Turned off Physx and it is fine now :)

You were lucky getting 5. Fraps said 2 fps at one point and it was like watching somebodies holiday snaps...

Strange that hardware designed to speed up certain aspects of the game slows it to an impossible crawl. Even stranger that they let it out of the door like that...

It's a lovely little game, but I'm getting performance issues when being chased by loads of mooks. Dropping all the graphics settings to low fixes it, but I want to play at high graphics levels. I had hoped a 4850 would be able to handle that? Even Crysis runs better when things get busy.

the pysix is bugged turn it off ;) i had same issue on same area you on about went to 5 fps disabled psyix straight back to solid 60 fps :D

sunlitsix video done with fraps

yeah i should do the roles more on landing and the speed wall runs but at mo im a noob at it :D just nice being able to enjoy a game again not had that for a while .

There's some post on the steam forums saying that the problem with physx in mirror's edge is that it is an old and poorly optimised version of it. You can apparently get big performance improvements by updating the physx libraries used...

yeah i dont know why it sounds so shizzle got a decent sound card and stuff and sounds awesome out my end :(

one day well be able to just output the true file upload instead squashing it down losing crap .

Is this game better with keyboard and mouse or should i use my xbox360 controller?

I'm using a 360 controller... keyboard just feels... odd.

Played it for about 20 minutes or so last night and just faffed about getting to grips with the controls. Looks like this could be a great laugh for £3 :)

Strange, I played the PS3 version and gave up after a while because I couldn't cope with the pad.

With keyboard its immediately much easier. IMO there's absolutely no substitute for the high accuracy analogue control you get with Mouse Look.

This is my views too. When i booted the game up my pad was plugged in and it told me all the controls in pad language, i was like 'oooh' i get to use my pad with this game. Then after playing for about 30 seconds with the pad i realise how i hate using an analogue stick in place of a mouse.

In the \mirrors edge\binaries folder rename/delete the physxlocal folder and the physxcore.dll and physxdevice.dll files. Found this on the steam forums and it sorted the fps issue when the glass got smashed :)

I just did that and the game doesn't run now.

Thanks.
