how would you feel if you were the bloke in the middle seat?

Could be a market (especially in the US) for someone to start an airline especially for the rotund. Buy an Airbus A380 and kit it out with extra wide seats so it holds about the same amoiunt of passengers as a 757. Dish up extra large portions for the in flight grub and your onto a winner.

I'd 6ft 6 and have really wide shoulders (means I can never get on the rides at theme parks :( ) Leg room on planes sucks, but I do fit in the seats just fine.

That guy is just obese.

You are really naive.

Is that not true then? Pretty sure that if the average weight of the population went up by 4 stone then airline tickets would also go up in price. (cant say the same for if the average weight went down, but thats due to greed of airlines)

My bloke's 6'6", usually we can find a way to get a good seat so he's not uncomfortable, but the check-in system on our last (~8 hour, too) flight was rubbish and didn't differentiate the seats beyond exit seats (which were all taken by then).

We ended up with upright seats backing against the plane bulkhead which wouldn't recline. The two blokes in front of us, of course, wanted to recline to sleep on the flight. Neither of us got any sleep, we did ask them nicely not to recline all the way, although the one in front of me (with headphones and an eyemask on) was leant back all the way even when food was coming around, that was very difficult to deal with even for a shorty like me :(

Thats really quite sad :( I cant imagine what that man must have felt like having to move everytime an air hostess or passenger wanted to get past.

He probably just ate them.

Looks at his username, Lol Eggface :D

To all those comments ridiculing him about his size

He's twice the man you are!

Classic :p

Fat Blokes have feelings to you know, You have to Beat them Lots harder before they feel it.

If I were him I'd have a hard time feeling anything other than my sides.

Lawls!

:p

Don't really have any sympathy for the guy since he can choose to loose weight at any time.

Actually that is not true.

Sometimes things happen, life spirals out of control, you are left with a condition in which you have a problem walking, therefor cannot lose weight much with exercise because of a hip problem, you also cannot get an operation done because you are just that overweight, it's a catch 22 scenario.

So you just have to live your life, unable to walk more than 5m without being in pain and unable to exercise to get rid of the weight, anything else is just futile. Operation is a no go.

I should know, I'm talking about my dad.

Please don't categorize every fat person into one chunk (lolo get it?) ;)

If I have to pay silly rates to take a couple of kg's of weight over my allowance it cost nearly £20/kg in excess weight charges? Then I've got to stand behind some obese monster who could munch half the plane who has a limitless personal weight allowance?

I'd like to see them have to pay such charges as they are using far more fuel than my shirts and shoes are.

How about eating less? Diet is far, far more important than exercise when it comes to losing weight.

Surely eat less food (particularly junk) and even light excercise (I'm talking even sitting in a chair and doing 1 pound weights or something) and it will eventually make some difference?

Being tall doesn't cause you to spill over into the aisle or someone else' seat. We don't care about being tall in this thread.

I was on a train today and I had to sit next a huge fat bloke. Not as big as the above guy but I had to sit with half of my ass hanging into the isle.
