Brussels gives CIA the power to search UK bank records

and why do we give americans access to our bank accounts but we do not get access to theirs ?
come on britain ...bend over and take it up the **** from america.

Good find and post mattheman :)

Interesting that this presumably doesn't apply to Swizerland - still, they appear to hate Muslims, so no terrorist or even money laundering involved there, hey ;)

Hmmm, can they though?

It seems your post just says the CIA can see them. Which they already could have done, just now it is legal for them to do it.

Not really a problem if you aren't a terrorist.

Ah Mister Anderson. You are a terrorist. Thus all your bank records belong to us!

I think you have me confused with someone else.

No we're categorising you as a terrorist because we believe it's so.

What evidence do you have?

We don't need evidence.

I used my debit card to buy a bin the other day that I ladened with other goods for easy carrying and now I'm worried about being water boarded.

News article makes no sense

grant requests for banking information made by the United States under its terrorist finance tracking programme.

According to the EU information note, the United States can request “general data sets” under the scheme based on broad categories including “relevant message types, geography and perceived terrorism threats”.

They also say the plan to sift through cross-border and domestic EU bank accounts

So which one is it, a request for specific bank accounts or a search on all bank accounts. If it is requests, like think it is what supporting information do they have to include. It doesn't sound to bad tbh, although it is lopsided. As long as it is requests and they have to offer some sort of info on why they want the bank details.

It's just difficult to read the unlettered dross that you come out with.

If its an interesting news story why not post it. I clicked on a couple of the links above, they seem interesting. if you dont like a thread you dont have to post in it. all rather simple.

I haven't given my opinion of the thread. My comment referred to the quote in my post. All rather simple.

the problem with these agreements is that they seem to be one sided

ditto to the extradition agreements - the US can extradite the complete spastic from the UK who decided to mess around with department of defence computers claiming he was looking for UFO evidence or some other delusional rubbish but former IRA terrorists living in Boston etc.. are still free.

thanks for posting mattheman.

You dont by any chance know of either a website which gathers all these information snippets of eroding freedoms (as unbiased as possible) so that we can see the bigger picture rather than just seeing 1 at a time (spaced out over a month or year so we dont get agitated enough about it i guess)

Also how about a website that automatically gathers 5 (minimum) different viewpoints on a news story. So you can look at each of them. This is instead of trawling google to different news websites etc.
