VW Fox on scrapage scheme

Problem with Loan is that she is a student so it instantly means it get rejected at the moment, whereas with finance the car is their insurance policy so they don't mind doing it...

Hyundai i10 is a definite option and will show her the car asap! Cheers
 
Also a big selling point on the FOX is the amount of space you get for the money, no others we have looked at had this...but they did have things like A/C which she does not want or need.
As a film student she moves a lot of equipment around so this was a massive plus for her... looks like the i10 might be similar to the Kia and Daihatsu in terms of space?

EDIT: Nevermind. You'd need to have been a member of a Credit Union for a while before they would offer a loan.
 
do you not have a grand or so you can spend on a car?
i'd get rid of the matiz for however much you can get, and get something cheap for ~£1k

pug 205s are very cheap and go on forever with minimal maintence costs
 
Why is your Matiz going to fail its MOT on an ECU? Is a brand new car as a student really sensible if its stretching your budget that much?

The car currently stalls when you use the brake as one of the Pistons is being forced round (due to the broken ECU timing is out)... the suspension needs some serious work as now "knocks". Other problems include the CAT needing to be replaced due to the fuel from the third cylinder not being burnt...
Also the brakes need to be replaced on the front as the calipers keep seizing :(

All the work by our local garage, who is a close personal friend of my fathers, is amounting to around £1000+ ... the car is not worth this much and his advise was to scrap it and get another car.

Our thought is with the scrappage scheme we're at least getting £2000 for the Matiz...
 
Just spend the 5k on something much better, take the matiz to a scrapyard and take your missus out for dinner with the money you get for it

Well technically £1000, as the new car you'll be getting will be at least £1000 over priced. I must admit though considering the state of the matiz scrapage sound a good option.

oh and driving a matiz on two cyclinders, just LOL

my sister got a 1.1 last year for £400, with an MOT.
the only things she has spent money on was £10 for an indicator stalk which she fitted herself (goes to show how easy these are to fix)
it failed its MOT on that stalk and the back box, which was £40 from kwik fit.

i highly recommend going down this route. okay, it's not on an 09 plate, but you're a student, wgaf?

Trust me it is funny, I often think it would be better to push the god damn thing :D

I really wish buying a cheap second hand car was a good option, but in my experience cheap cars often come with expensive problems waiting around the corner...from many mates experience... hence why I spent £3k on my SEAT and its been a great little car for two years so far!

It works quite well. We've just rid of my Pug and my bike. Mrs was insisting on something slow with a bigger boot, I wanted a compromise between the car and the bike. She found an old Rover 600 that would have been perfect for what she wanted me to get. I told her I was going out to look at it and came back with a 2.3l Honda Prelude :D
