dirt 2 benchmarks dx9 vs dx 11

one other thing, is dirt 2 useing dx11 or just dx9 at the minute cause i couldnt select a option to enabled dx11 unless it works out of the box useing card detection lol

It uses directx 11 if you set the all graphics details (which have the option) to the ultra settings... according to a review of the game I just read the ultra settings make use of directx 11.

I am quite surprised on the low frame rates though, on 8x aa with all settings maxed at 1680x1050 i'm getting average of 62fps and 51fps min... Seems quite low for a 5870 crossfire setup at this resolution!

Does sound low im getting the following.

1680 x 1050 - 8 x AA - ULTRA settings
min_fps="52.732952" av_fps="60.245667"

And that is with crossfire 5750, Flashed them with the 5770 Asus bios so i could clock them higher (it worked lol).

Well, just as Dirt 2 gets activated and downloads, the fan on my 5870 packs in (no link :p).

Running on a 4870, and with medium settings at 1920x1200 it hovers around 50- 60 fps, just enough to flicker between smooth and jerky pretty constantly and usually at the wrong moment. :(

Back on low settings, and with vsync on and it's nice and smooth. Strangely the 5870 was pretty much the same... but then it may have been due to the fan failing/heat issues.

Now - as for the game itself I have a lot of issues. Firstly why should I have to logon to windows live to save my game progress? The audio driver thingy doesn't seem to like my 5.1 setup for some reason. Not being able to skip through a lot of the videos and talk throughs, and the instant rewind option not always going back far enough so I can get to before a crash...

... but anyway, that's not benchmarks. :D

im getting 30fps in ultra 1920x1200 with the benchmark in the full game not the demo which is a v basic track compared to the full game version

i5 3.5ghz ati 5870

So long as you don't play NFS Shift which runs like crap on my 5770, having to stick most settings down to medium to get playable framerates, it's pathetic.

get the 1.2 patch and it should fix all the troubles.. shift had some problems with older versions(1.0,1.1)

its on x8 atm, i also only during playing the game not in the benchmark have micro lockups like the games paused for a split second then goes again ok for 5 seconds then locks again, really annoying only way i can stop it is to knock all the settings down. off ultra which i thought was the whole idea of buying a dx11 card.

my cpu is overclocked to 3.5ghz from 2.66 video card is stock etc.
