Cossie

This looks better though

You simply can't quantify that because its down to personal taste, things like build quality you can quantify because they are absolutes.

Personally i think the car in the OP now looks a bit *****, the E34 M5 has managed to stay out of the Mc D's Carpark massives hands.

So yes, divided opinion on looks.

I love retro rides, I have to say I prefer the Sapphire over the Escort anyday - but then again I think the dash from my Renault 21 Turbo looks better than the Ford

Its the sheer power they can extract from these engines which boggles my mind!

As for BMW's is all about the E30 M3 TBH

Reshelled, not unusual for that age of car

so it's been rolled?
and it's had a new head?

probably got a history dodgier than a mafia mob and would cost nearly what the car did to insure and looks ghastly to boot! no way i'd spend £5k on that, be like buying a world of grief. didn't even look that radical in 1992. i like the escort cosworth but this is ghastly

never liked the sapphire cosworth

driving position was poor, the transmission tunnel presses into your leg and is so annoying

the gearchange is like stirring a bucket of **** with a marshmallow

handling nothing special either

Agreed I barely fit into the three door I drove,

so it's been rolled?

So many assumptions in one posts. Well done.

err it states it's had a new head

why else would it have been re-shelled?

do yourself an insurance quote on it

these type of cars seem to only not have a dodgy history if they are kept origninal and in tip top condition, this one is neither.

What!

Re-shelled means the drive train, engine and interior has been transferred to a new shell/chassis. You don't even know what you are talking about. He's not talking about the bearing shells ffs. He's explaining why the car comes up a Sapphire Ghia on the DVLA site, not why the car has had a new head.

Why did you mention it had been rolled? The car could have been reshelled for loads of reasons?

I don't like the car personally, mainly because the engine bay looks scruffy, the wheels are rubbish and the tyres are well, just lol.

Comparing these to M5s is very unfair to be honest.

I enjoy going out in my friends cossie, it's extremely good fun. Not as much fun as his stripped out mini turbo.

err i'm quite aware what re-shelling means, do you honestly think i was referring to bearing shells?!

loads of reasons for re-shelling a car? umm no, there isn't really loads of reasons

it STATES it has had a new head so it's not an assumption

When the asking price pits it firmly into half decent M5 territory, its perfectly fair imo.

Back in the day, sure, they were poles apart (especially in terms of list price) now its a case of one (imo the e34 M5) being absurdly cheap for what it is and the Sierra being over inflated in terms of value to a point where its up there with vastly superior machinery.

You write in such a confusing manner.

Big deal it's had a new head? What does that prove?

As for the old shell, it could have been rotten, or accident damage, you don't really know the circumstances behind the car.

You can buy a 3 series for the price my Fiesta is worth, is it a fair comparison? No.

No thats a retarded argument.

However both the Cosworth and M5 are comparable because;

- Both are saloon cars
- Both are built around the same time
- Both are performance cars
- Both can now be had for the same cost

Erm so if you want a fast saloon car built in the 80's and you have 5k to spend why wouldn't you consider the M5.

If you had 20p to spend and wanted a hatchback why would you think "you know what, i would like a 4 door big saloon car instead"......

The price thing is a retarded argument, which I why I made my example to highlight this.

Let's be honest, both are now enthusiasts cars, the Sierra is expensive because most were stolen/burnt/in a ditch somewhere in Essex, add scene tax to that as well. You'd have to be a proper enthusiast to buy either car, at which point you already know what car you want to buy.
