**The Dragon Age Origins Thread **

Hmm unfortunately i think the Dexterity Hotfix did it better... it improved Bows in general and made Shortbows actually worth a damn. All that did is fix the Daggers.

I think a change to Cone of Cold was pretty obvious sooner or later.

Guess all i have to do now is hope the Hotfix and Respec mod weren't broken by the patch (when it eventually downloads through Steam). Respec mod should but i dunno about the fix.

Can't you create the same effect by having a couple of mages with Cone of Cold?

I havent used cone of cold at all yet. In fact, since i've had shale, I haven't come across a single encounter thus far that requires anything more than a simple tank and spank. Wynne does a lot of healing, however. And 'm sure that's set to change.

Only thing i would change now is making Alistair a 2 hander rather than Sword and Board. Might yet come across a decent 2 hand NPC but I like alistairs personality. We often agree, as it were.

Well yes but going through every playthrough with 2 Mages to Cone of Cold spam is gonna get a little tedious. Every once in a while sure but building around it is a bit much.

And i could really do with Morrigan getting Telekinetic Weapons...

But it can be modded so the construction set can handle light based sneaking?

I have no idea. I know for certain that when your a Vampire, hiding under cover does absolutely nothing to how much Sun damage you take, it depends 100% on the time of day while your outside whether your under a bridge, stood behind a mountain or sunbathing on the beach. Unless light levels are something the game handles locally rather than just applies to the whole area, which evidence suggests it does, i doubt the Construction Set could help. Likewise i doubt the Toolset for DA could do anything about it.

Also, you lied to me.

Er, it depends what 'critical point' you are referring to. I believe if you leave just before the fight everyone but Bann Teagen is killed when you return. But by 'leaving' it may mean 'going and completing another main quest'. Since Lothering doesn't get overrun until you complete 1 even if you run around in circles on the world map for hours and hours.

Yeah you know, I noticed that Lothering had been overrun... but only by looking at the map. Shouldn't there have been some sort of announcement?

I dont even know if i'd done all the quests :( Could i have saved it? :(

Also; question.

How do you save? When i'm in a quest I F5 all the way through until i finish it... and try to do a menu save when I think i'm about to start something big, do something i might regret or test something i'm unsure of. I find sometimes, though, that you just cannot predict where you should be saving!

Save during FMV's would be awesome.

Announcement? That would seem a bit... out of place. But its close enough, i think the dwarf merchant (Bodric?) in the camp tells you if you ask about rumours, possible that the people called 'Gossip' in some towns mention it also.

Lothering is overrun the moment you complete your first 'gain allies' primary quest. Other than the quests that take place entirely in Lothering and gaining Sten theres nothing else there and you probably did all of those while you were there.

Mostly F5 too. Its a very bad habit for RPGs... especially 1 that actually has a proper saving system. I despise Fallout3 and Oblivions method of 'lets put all the save files together in 1 huge mess. At least your safe from ever accidently quicksaving over another character since they all have there own. I do occasionally hard save, but not much. I guess i should do it before each major plotline incase something goes wrong. I know Redcliffe has (or had maybe) a problem with infinite spawning during the battle. Luckily the game does it for you before major fights...

I just meant announcement like... a guy stumbles into whatever town you're in saying "lothering has been overrun... the end is nigh" or soemthing similar, rather than a big message on teh screen.

I didn't get Sten. I left him there. He wouldn't come out without me making a decision that wasn't "lawful good" as it were, and would have upset the woman in the Chantry. Guess he's mush now!

To be honest he's a bit of a ****** anyway, though his voice acting is superb.

He's honourable and comes from a race that does nothing much but fight honourably, so he's not exactly evil. The real ****** is Morrigan :p

Well your suppose to go find out yourself. Plus it is fairly obvious on the world map, the 'Blight' has extended to Lothering and its no longer accessible.

Couldn't agree more :)

Towards the end of the game I started to warm to Sten. I think my next party is going to be Me (Mage), Sten, Shale and my dawg. Will be... interesting.
