American Car hate club

Its not too bad if you split it into 3 or so days. Wanted to go via Washington and Atlanta and watch some American Football games along the way, not to fear i'm getting my own way for next year and heading out a week in advance!

Not that i'm bringing American Sports into this thread or anything, now thats a love or hate situation if i've ever seen one :p

Why don't you let a 245lb 6ft man tackle you at chest level and report back as to how you feel afterwards.

In rugby you can't tackle above the waste, in NFL anything upto the neck is game.

The shows they put on are amazing, just shows what you can do if you throw enough money at something, never seen baseball live but i plan on doing sometime soon.

you can also tackle off the ball
in fact, most of the tackling is done off the ball

You should do, i caught a mid week match in LA earlier this year. Given that this was just a mid week evening completely unimportant routine game it was staggering - over 40,000 attendance, fireworks, dancing, live bands on the pitch, more than we have at a world cup game!

its the corvette engine first and foremost.

LS3 was designed for the corvette first, then put in other cars after. Develops 415bhp from a 6.2 V8

yet another big old lazy un-advanced yank tank engine

But boy, when it sounds like that. Who the hell cares ?

Id say american football is far more about strategy

Its most comparable to Rugy Union , but the rugby union way of getting the ball up the pitch is either to A) just as much as you can till you get tackled or B) kick it further up the field.

American Football is a far more tactical game than that. You basically have the rugby union equivalent of a line out every time somebody gets tackled, but involving the whole team, as opposed to just the attackers.
 
I love big american muscle cars. Even if they are not "good" cars, I love 'em.

Big V8 engined monsters and the styling of many of the classics in the 60s/70s are hard to beat.

Love things like the Charger, Trans Am, Mustang, GT40 selection of Corvettes and those typical "muscle" cars. A big throbbing v8 with soul and character is hard to beat.

Of course there are the poor cars like the 4x4s, neons etc... but who cares when you have others. Sure they're not as refined as some of the mroe clinical cars such as BMWs and Porsches, but damn if they're not in your face! :cool:
 
I'm happy to sign up to the American car hate club. There is one or two cars that are an exception but the vast majority of yank cars are terrible.

I hired a car in Florida about 10 years ago cant remember the make/model but it had a huge V8 which was totally gutless. Sink the boot, car kicks down then this underwhelming lack of anything. Just pointless.
 
Must admit I used to hate them, but over the last few years my mind has completely changed. I've been finding myself increasingly attracted to Yank Muscle of late :(
 
American cars, automatic, uneconomical, plasticy, boats of hate etc.
Aside from the cool factor related to some of them, yeah I'm in the same boat.

And agree that american football is rugby for wimps. No one needs that much padding.
