GTX 380 & GTX 360 Pictured + Specs

Currently ATI have no reason to be worried.

Why worry about vaporware? currently Nvidia have nothing, they have the "potential" for cards, but nothing even resembling something they can market.

If Nvidia publish something official stating that their new cards will be faster then yes, ATI will need to kick themselves into gear but until then Nvidia may as well not exist.

lol never heard the word vaporware in a while

If the cards can fit in normal cases ( less than 11inchs long). I think most people will buy nvidia even if its abit expensive. ATI card + new case to fit high end card = more money.
Even if there a tad expensive. Aslong as there small people might beable to afford a card.

bru I really do admire your copy and paste skills. Your point was well made.

However I have good reason to believe that the card with the well nourished bloke giving the thumbs up was actually showing an impression of what a fermi card may look like and giving rough ideas as to how it may perform.

Am on the red team now, having rocked nvidia for a while- nvidia lost this one.

As a siide note threw a right strop at 5850 price hikes. Was stressed and pi$%%£d at petty price increases. OCUK took the prices back down, and I bought, I went ott with my original comments and we shall see where things move from here. Special thanks to fatboy.

That picture is a joke and shows nothing at all so at this pojnt no reason to get all excited. If they had them working we would have more then a lame picture to try and stop ati sales so that also makes me think it's a con job. When something half decent comes out that will be the time for any debate but this picture please says it all when there has been more talk of the case then the cards it is supposed to have in it. Ebil seriously m8 try looking a bit tsmc have screwed ati and guess what they will screw nvidia as well so better to be quiet right now on that front save a little embarrassment later :).

Those could be a couple A2 silicon versions, in which case they are not running those clocks unless heavily overvolted/cooled/heated/etc and silly power consumption.

they could just as easily be A2 silicon versions running at those clocks and they are undervolted and running very cool, those clocks might even be well under the expected final clocks. unfortunatly its all guesswork, all we can say reasonably accurately is that they do seem to have working versions.

Probably gonna pick 2 of these 380s up if there anygood...as long as i can play Bad Company 2 at CONSTANT 60fps at 1920 res,max detail, full AA etc i dont care what games are released for the next 12 months...as BC2 i wil be playing 24/7

If you want to spend that much money why not just get a 5970...

Good luck finding 2 380s in stock anywhere remotely near BC2 launch, let alone for a reasonable markup. Oh and BC2 is March 2nd, Fermi is at least a month after that, may want to rethink your plan there chief.

Just looking at the specs they look pretty dissapointing, compared to the 5970, if it is the case that Nvidia dont release the geforce gt360 & 380 till march then they have shot themselves in the foot, ATI will more than likely bring out the nxt GPU's to compete giving Nvidia no breathing space and dropping the prices of the 5970.

being an Nvidia fan for over 5 years i find this dissapointing, and the red team are getting my brownie points, time to join the dark side.

How are they disappointing? more then twice the shader count, clocked higher, more memory bandwidth then a HD 5870 plus more memory.

Clearly your either a troll or you don't know what your talking about, unless nvidia have seriously messed up here this should be a great performer based on these specs.

Unless there are architectural improvements GTX 380 will lose to the 5970.

ON the other hand both of these cards are made with a huge chip, about the size of G80. Hence nvidia will be in a very similar situation as the previous round. Bigger chip, unable to compete with the dual solution while the competition has cards at every price point plus enough margins to cut the price as low as they need to.

And then, there are the refreshes that will come in early 2010.

I don't see how th specs are disappointing, those specs given previous performance benchmarks form the G200 should mean the G300 out powers the ATI 5870 with ease. Only time will tell if it does or not.

However, it is difficult to estimate the performance form the specs, so you will have to wait until you see benchmarks.

Finally, Nvidia didn't pruposely wait to release the G300. The G300 is a major new architecture and has taken longer than expected to finalise.

Evben if Nvidia had finalized the core on time, it would make no difference because TSMC cannot make enough cards for ATI alone, let alone both NV and ATI.

Im not talking about a 5870, im comparing it to the 5970. so before you go calling me a troll think about what you are saying

But how exactly do you know this won't perform simalarly to a HD5970? even if it's a little slower, it has the advantage of being a single GPU based card.

Have you seen the size of the HD5970? it's a joke.
