I emailed UBISoft about the locked saved games files as I have a PS3 (launch day console) and bought a slim 2 months ago for the bedroom (mostly for BD's and the odd game in bed) wanted to copy my Assassins Creed 2 saved game over to pen drive and slap it on the slim in the bedroom but couldn't as it was locked. Their reply was that many people sell saved game files on the bay and other places... Hence that's why they have locked saved game files.
Seems strange to me as game companies don't own the saved game files, it's the player that owns them as they have done all the work and anyone who buys saved game file has to seriously desperate to buy them just for 100% and trophies/achievements.
It also seems that protected files can be moved using the transfer just not copied, so the original PS3 will loose the save game.
Aren't trophies disabled when you transfer a save game. They're on Uncharted 2 anyway.
All makes sense now. So you could transfer the save to unlock bits of the game you haven't (but trophies will always be locked to the PSN profile). Still confused why about 20-30 games publishers deem this a problem, and the vast majority do not.AFAIK using a game save will stop you getting trophies but obvusly you can get certain parts or levels unlocked.
Hopefully in time they will release a patch to unlock saves like Resident Evil 5
I used someones save once with Skate as I couldn't be bothered to unlock everything after a while but that does not have trophies, but as Nanoman says you lose the ability to earn trophies when using another save. All makes sense now. So you could transfer the save to unlock bits of the game you haven't (but trophies will always be locked to the PSN profile). "Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your patience on this one. I have been advised that this issue has been fixed with the
launch of the new firmware tomorrow.

100% agreeSo am I right in thinking this backup feature will include locked game saves?
would have been handy at launch tbh. Already had to complete SF4 and Killzone 2 again since I got my slim![]()
I never had any issues with this and as you know I only recently completed it...I wonder if they'll fix Uncharted for everyone finally...
PS3 Data Transfer Utility
This feature enables you to easily transfer all of your saved data from one PS3 to another. So if you decide to get a new PS3 you can make sure you don’t loose any of your existing content. Content such as games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network can be transferred to the new PS3 system and deleted from the current PS3. Other content, including personal media files (photos, music, videos), can be copied onto the new PS3 and remain on the current PS3 system.
Copy-protected game saves won't be transferred using the transfer utility.
Ah fair enough, there are about a dozen replies on the PS Blog by one of the Sony guys saying it wouldn't, so not sure where they got their info from!
Shot in the dark but I don't suppose I could transfer any of my PSN games to a new console?
My daughter's getting a Slim for Xmas and I would like to give her a few PSN games to get her started![]()
Uncharted still doesn't work. Stupid Sony.
(and no i'm not alone in this issue before anyone asks)
Have you tried what this guy has done?

Whilst you may not be alone, It does not seem to be an issue I have seen on gaming sites or other forums, so I doubt it is affecting very many people (As I recall your game gets stuck on the loading screen, but it doesn't on your parents machine that does not have the 3.xx update, hence, you think it is a firmware issue?)
Have you contacted the NaughtyDog or Sony (via their forums), to see if they can help?
