GTX 380 & GTX 360 Pictured + Specs

Do you really expect the GTX380 beating the HD5970?

I guess we can expect a Nvidia dual card as well with maybe slightly slower clocks.

As far as I understood it this is a brand new architecture??

Its not brand new. Its an evolution of the same arch that arrived with the G80. Same as Cypress is an evolved R600. GPU archs dont really change that often, we get refreshes and evolved versions faster than the CPUs do but the arch change approximately at the same pace as the CPUs, especially now that GPUs move towards the more programmable model vs. fixed function of the past.

The improvements that i have heard about are mostly relating to HPC tasks and DP GLOPS. MY question is if they are going to trim out all those things for the consumer part, as it fattens up the die without really offering too much for the average consumer. ITs great for the Tesla/workstation cards bad not that great for the gaming aspect.

As for the GTX 395, i would find it very unloikely if it got released anytime soon. I would guess the soonest being three months after GTX 380, and thats being generous.

Nvidia is facing its worst execution of a product. Even good old Geforce 5800 was not this late.

Well tbh all I really care about is a price war as even the last generation cards are capable of any game today barring DX11 features.

I do see your point into the size of the 5970, however nvidia showing some dude with two cards with SLI wow who gives to hoots, we want benchmarks or a 3d Benchmark score. they could have done something like that.

ATI have no competition at the moment, even though the prices are abit steep, but ppl will pay for this cause they are the next generation cards which are future proof.

This will always happen though, there will always be gaps where only one company has new products available then overcharge for them, nvidia have done it and ATI are no different

I agree, the image isnt proof, i'm more interested in the specs, if these are true then I have high hopes for this card, otherwise maybe i'll get another HD5870 once prices fall.

If you want to spend that much money why not just get a 5970...

Good luck finding 2 380s in stock anywhere remotely near BC2 launch, let alone for a reasonable markup. Oh and BC2 is March 2nd, Fermi is at least a month after that, may want to rethink your plan there chief.

i dont like ATI cards,im Hardcore Nvidia ONLY, since the days of the voodoo cards (3dfx which was bought by nvidia and you could also sli them way back in 1997)..as for finding 2 of the 380 gpus i dont think it will be a problem as money talks mate:)

Oh noes, it's the grammar police again, get a life.

If you are going to be rude and call people idiots, you should check that you know the correct words to use.

As for getting a life, perhaps the angry man arguing over the potential performance of an unreleased video card should take a look in the mirror. Is it really that important?

Tells you on there webpage ;) http://www.maingear.com/custom/desktops/shift/

That is really good idea though to be fair :)

I wonder what kind of strain the newer cards put on the board though? considering instead of the weight being distributed along its length it is pulling down

The guy just flat out called me a liar, I proved him wrong and i'm the bad guy.

I love this forum

This topic is about the GTX380, GTX360, thats what we are discussing until he turned up with the name calling and false accusations.

I would think that the cards being attached to the case would mean the PCI-E slots are not taking that much of the load.

Aye, I would think that would make anyone angry. Yet you also made a silly error (which we all do) and it made me smile. No hard feelings fella.

hope these cards arent too long like we've discussed, my case doesnt need upgrading or hacking to bits.

Not too bothered about psu though, mine will power a small sun for 4 days and 3 nights.

Are they going with the same naming scheme do we know? 'My other graphics card is a 360' doesnt sound right LoL

Have you seen the size of the HD5970? it's a joke.

If you're spending that much money on graphics then you already have a proper case, if not then you are a noob with a fat wallet and haven't done any research.

What are you moaning for anyway, you have an Antec 1200 IIRC. With the case fans turned off and a "mysteriously overheating" 4870x2.
