Modern car hate club

imagine life without parking sensors and aircon to clear the windows in a hurry

i suppose half the country is driving about on dark horse ditch finders so maybe im underestimating the countries driving skills

In fairness, my 205 clears the windows way faster than any car I have owned with aircon.

The heater warms up very quickly

Well maintained old car > shabby modern box with ditchfinders

:D

Unfortunately when it comes to modern car vs old car in a crash... old car dies along with its passengers at the hands of the new car's bumper
Why, do you crash all the time then?

Horror at the thought of having to take responsibility of ones own driving :D

I agree. I've owned 3-4 old cars now (oldest being 41 yrs old) and they have a character that newer cars are lacking. No doubt people will disagree, but each to their own and so on. I'd rather be driving 9 grands worth of aircooled 911 than anything modern that I can think of, or an old bug or a merc. I have a thing for old German cars :D.

Talking of old german cars, there are a few that i would absolutely love:

MGB Roadster. Dad's owned it for 23 years now, he got it as a restoration project while my mum was pregnant with me. The day I was born the hospital kept having to phone my dad to get him out of the garage :D I love it to bits and I'll never let him sell it.

my "old" golf is only 15 years old, has "only" dont 215k miles so is a spring chicken really in the grand scheme of things, but in reality it is more reliable than it has any right to be

in just under four years and 70k miles, it has never let me down once, it has never once not got me to my destination

You should know that it's not your own driving you sohuld worry about! But that of the guy in the new car who is driving along not knowing anything about what his car is doing :p

My name is Jonny69 and I hate modern cars. I don't like being cooped up in a bland soundproofed box isolated from the road. I want to be part of the experience.

Looking for other like minded individuals.

You really need to define how your timeframe for modern.

I whole hartedly agree.

W108 :( WANT.

Me too. Nearest I am getting at the moment is having my W115 and a W116. W108s go for crazy money and I won't sell the W115, so I reckon I'll never really bother getting one.

I appreciate good modern cars and good classic cars also. I don't really fancy many new cars, but I'd have an e39/Monaro/Elise in a second <- all do something or a few things very very well. Driving 400 miles in a day is more comfortable, cheaper and overall easier in a modern car - that can't really be denied.

Saying that, I've expanded my classic collection again, I've just bought a Jap Classic, collect it this weekend. Pics to follow.
