*** Official Dirt 2 (PC) Thread*** DX 11

Well.. my order status is 'Packing' at the moment.. I was hoping to get it today.. oh well, never mind :p
 
My copy from Zavvi was waiting for me on the mat when I got home yesterday :)

Installed and working nicely on my old 8800GTX and using my new G25 wheel. Who needs DX11 :P
 
Ok guys and gals!

I tried to download the demo from steam last night and when I try and launch it nothing happens which is a bit annoying.

Anyway, I have never been a big big fan of racing games. I did enjoy Forza 2 when I got the xbox wheel but other than that no racing game has grabbed me. I am however considering getting a GX25 and this game.

Do cars take damage in this game and does it effect performance? Is it more arcading or simmy? Any quick info you can give without me having to read 20+ pages (sorry at work and might make the choice today!)

yes, there's damage, it looks quite good and can affect the cars performance (not much though). I have to say its a good middle ground between arcade and sim to me, it's definitely no sim, but you can't just throw it round corners and expect to be facing the right way. All the cars definitely feel different, the tracks feel different, it's good fun :)

also, the mkII is an ass, I'm like 5secs back on the colin mcrae sepcial rally in that thing on serious :(
 
I am waiting for the epic price of the 5970 to drop before I consider a new set of gcards. My 4890s run it perfectly well in DX9 and it looks awesome. I am avoiding watching DX11 vids because what I don't know about, I cannot crave! Haha

I've also no Idea. MSi Afterburner is set to display all the GFX Sensor info + FPS to my Logitech G15 Panel

Next to FPS It shows DX Version, mine showing as DX10 on 5770 Crossfire :confused:
 
isnt it the post process effect option in the graphics menu that changes it?

I.e set it to the highest dx11, or lowest dx9? middle 10?

amazing game, havnt had the ability too test dx11 obv.

However i have one kinda big problem with dirt 2.

Why do i get low fps when viewing other peoples names in a lobby?
Why is the online interface bad? Why cant i just ready up when i want to, not when it wants me too?

Other than that i cant see anything wrong with it, racing at its finest...
 
Very dissapointed with the latest tournament.

The only way to get a remotely fast time on battersea bridge is to crash round every corner at full speed, letting the outside wall guide you.

The tournament is now completely pointless as fair, fun driving will get you nowhere.

Thats nothing try and play MP and watch how you get rammed at the start into the first corner. No way to kick either so prepare for this to happen a lot. Last night I was winning several races by having a superior car (due to completing 100% SP you unlock all vehicles some have better acceleration but poorer handling) then kept getting rammed by players who had no intention of braking into the corner :rolleyes:

I also noticed lots of players using various cheats like the following:

1: Steering hack to keep on the track no matter what. You can tell when they appear to go offroad at an impossible angle then some miracle causes them to reappear on the road further infront of you than they were before :rolleyes:

2: Super acceleration cheat so you have the same car and yet they can out accelerate you by a large margin !

3: Impossible times in the tournaments by using hacks to freeze the timer.

Right now MP is being spoiled. CM may as well not bother including it as no-one is policing it either you can report players but that never results in anything being done.
 
I get rammed in SP, ai is crap

1. lag?

2. how large, better throttle control/gear shifts can cause quite a gap

3. ok, that one is most likely cheating :)
