Are all the Kuro's gone?

finally got it wall mounted a couple of nights ago and WOW! the colours and blacks on this thing are awesome, haven't even run it in / calibrated it or anything but already very happy and very impressed with it!

Ad, get with the times, it's all about USER modes now ;)

Admittedly Ive gone to the User side of things, I didn't like the green hue that Movie modes puts on films when I used those settings on my specific set.

I also found DRE on low helps sharpen up Blu Rays, this is a personal preference though. Thinks like madagascar 2 can even use Medium DRE, it brings out all the detail in the grass on the menu screen.

Best thing for Tom is to try several of the settings from AVF and see what suits best.

I often see people saying to look for recommended settings for TV sets, or pposting up lists of settings lik e Ad has in here, and see mention of AVF, but I can't seem to find where these recommended settings are posted on there.

Might someone be able to point me in the right direction please? (my tv is a TXP42X10...in case anyone wants to find the settings for me...lol)

Meh no thanks prefer my moive settings that bumtious talked me through :D

Set both up and flick between them on a Blu ray, You might surprise yourself. Especially if you had the flicker issue and got the firmware update like I did about a month ago.

Benjamin button was what switched me, there is aclose up scene I paused on. Flicking between the two Movie looked like it had a green mist. User was much clearer with a lot more detail. Gamma may be better on Movie but it doesnt mean the picture looked better in MY eyes. :)

TV now has a 'Pop' that it lacked on Movie mode. Football also looks a lot better.

A mate was looking at 5090 on ebay on Tuesday, it ended up going for £1950. 6 months old!

I spy a KRP 500M with 3 dead pixels for only £1900 ;)

those 3 dead pixels would drive me bonkers - for £1900 you may as well get a 5090 brand new and no dead pixels imho. AFAIK the 500M isn't very different aside from being designed for wall mount, extra menu settings and maybe some connections

Ad,

I looked for 10mins yesterday and couldn't find them. Someone has put an excel sheet together that has a lot of settings to try out.

Better picture.

I have a 5090 already, and you wont get them for 1900 brand new.

well I compared both and KRP500M does not have a better picture if the 5090 is properly calibrated, they are pretty much exactly the same. I would bet that the panels are exactly the same, although i never found any evidence for or against that when I was originally purchasing a Kuro.

The KRP500A with seperate media box is the one to get in the KRP series anyway ;)

They are out of stock everywhere and cost a lot more than £1900, thanks for the wink though

KRPs use a different panel to the 5090 and have a cleaner picture.

Cheers guys.

Found that spreadsheet earlier after trawling through threads. Had a little go on iron man and tbh it looked pretty crap, just more likea toned down standard mode. Had a very icey blue look to it.

:p

User is the same as standard I believe, just user is input specific and not 'global'.

out of curiosity, any links to that info? I have never found any such details anywhere, it would be worth sharing because many people were also trying to figure that out on AVS and AVF.

No I admit it is rumour but the Pioneer engineer who updated my Tv said that the KRP and 5090H have the 10th Gen panels and some of the hardware where as the 5090 is all 9th Gen stuff.

I tried them when I got my 5090 and found the picture too dark, went with my own settings which aren't that different to the above. Contrast 36, Sharpness -8
