As much as I hate the X-Factor stranglehold on the Christmas number one spot I don't think this will work. No matter how many people download this it will still be very much an underground thing compared to the hundreds of thousands of kids, parents and grandparents that will buy the X-Factor single. It happens every year of late and I don't see that changing just because of this little drive.

It's sad that we don't get a number 1 at Christmas which is worth listening to but that's just the state of the charts in the festive period unfortunately.

In all fairness though, the official charts are only updated weekly, iTunes would update on the fly, so it's likely to be more up to date than the official top 40.
