Meeting someone Famous and not quite realising

Not me, but a mate went to a bar in LA and asked the guy at the bar if the seat next to him was free. 5 minutes later he looked at him and realised it was actually Harrison Ford. :p

a few years ago i was in the zoo taking photos in the butterfly house

there was a lovely butterfly just landed on this flower so i went over and was all focused on my camera, looking through the lens and trying to get the shot when someone else came over and stood next to me

they were getting in my way (this dad and his son) as they were trying to take a photo too. so i bumped in to them and gave a gentle nudge with my back as if i hadnt noticed them and they wondered off

my gf turned around and said, did you see who that was

it was only Russell Crowe

Lucky he didn't give you a kickin

Bennie, is that honestly true?

I need to know before I proceed.

If thats true then thats quite amusing :D

Yep its 100% true, it was a few years ago when she was going out with some northern irish male model, which i assume was the only reason she was in this poohole of a country :p A few people i told were like "OMG you should tell the papers!"

Didn't meet the guy per se but when in New York in 2005 we were walking along 42nd street and there was an impersonator pretending to be George Bush. Got closer and sort of clocked him and he knew we knew who he was. Was John Culshaw.

Last year while working in the hospital, I was entering the Pediatric ward and was waiting to be buzzed in, then a group of people opened the door to leave. I didn't really pay attention but turned to thank the person who held it for me, and it was Ronan Keating. Boyzone where doing a surprise visit for the kids.

Also I've played tennis with Jennifer Ellison years ago, I knew she was relatively famous at the time but didn't know exactly who she was. Also played with a few St. Helens Rugby players which again, I didn't know who they where, and met pretty much the whole Liverpool and Everton teams on quite a few occasions.

My brother spent a night talking with Ronnie O'Sullivan, who was alone in a club, and he didn't know who he was haha. He found out at the end of the night and he said he thought he was just some cockney.

Oh and he's also driven James Hetfield of Metallica between Liverpool and Manchester, and the Metallica manager on a few occasions (who he said was an absolute gob****) when he worked for Enterprise. Oh and Richard Madeley lol

Earlier this year I was waiting in the Wetherspoons (I think) in the Manchester Airport departure lounge.
I was sitting there having a quick pint on my own, minding my own business, waiting for my flight when a group of lads got escorted in to the place and sat on the table next to me.
I say "Hello" out of courtesy, regardless.

Sod me, I thought, only the scruffiest bunch could choose a seat next to me, just my luck. In fairness, they were quiet and just went about getting something to eat and then left to catch their flight.

It was only after they left that one of the staff came over and asked me if I knew who they were.

"No?", I respond confused.

"Oh, that was The Prodigy, I just got them to sign a menu for me."

best i have is pushing past robbie fowler in hmv trafford center to get to a till, i didnt realise it was him but my bro said when we came out "u just pushed past robbie fowler"

my girlfriends brother does a lot of advertising and makes a lot of presentation brochures etc for man utd, he gets invited to all the formal dinners with sir alex and the team, he sits next to rooney most of the time and is on first name terms with SAF. shame he is an everton fan.

I pushed past Stewart Downing and his cronies in a bar once. Didn't realise it was him until I was told. Would have pushed him harder if I'd have known :p

Also held the door open to the toilets for Pierluigi Collina in Amsterdam airport. Scary man! :)

I once got in a very near fisticuff fight with another band at the British Music Fair in 1985.
We were talking to Peavey Reps when they rudely butted in and we eventually saw them on their way.
One of the Reps said 'What did you do that for? that was Marillion' (obviously without Fish).

When I worked at B&Q while I was at college about 18 years ago, I was advising a guy with floppy hair about Flymo strimmers. He chose one and I put it in a trolley for him and he took it off to the till.

A few minutes later a checkout girl was making a big fuss, so I went over to see what was happening, turns out the guy was Rick Astley.

Another time I was at Cadwell Park for the BSB (the year it went down to the last race between Hodgson and Walker). I was going to the bogs and there was a woman coming out of the ladies wearing all leather (looking damn hot). I walked past her and the guy behind me said "excuse me, you're Suzi Perry aren't you", "yes" she said, to which he replied "cool, have you just been for a ****?". Cue her storming off in a huff. :D

I was in Morrisons at my home in Bideford a few days before New Years Eve last year.

Was in the alchohol section and stood next to me looking at wines was Robert Webb. I was a bit like, is that really him?

Started talking a bit just random chat about what to drink that night.

Was rather random, went out to see my missus who was in the car, and she was like why on earth didnt you ask for an autograph or something.

Funny thing is i just bought the Peep Show box set that EXACT morning, and it was in the car lol. So i went in and asked him to autograph it. He lay down on the floor of morrisons to do it for me, he was proper sound.

EDIT-

When i was younger too i went into the local paper shop with my uncle in Wilmslow and Andy Cold walked in and he new my uncle, was a bit like wtf?

I used to work next door to Ian Hislop, said "a'right" when I passed hm outside once.

Woody Harrleson came to my work once (he was voicing one of the characters), I said "A'right" when he came in.

I see a Michael Barrymore like pattern forming here......... I better go out and check the pool!?!

This isn't about famous people you know you talked to, it's about you talking to someone and basically someone else points out they are famous.

A mate of mine is a photographer for a graphic design studio. A few years back he had to go and photograph the buildings at a big country estate (inside and out). He had to get aerial photos too, so they hired a helicopter for him to get the aerials and then would drop him off.

When he landed, there was some VIP function on there and as he walked from the helipad he was met by "a black girl" and "a couple of big bodyguards" (his words). As they stopped him, one of the bodyguards said "hi,this is ????" motioning at the girl, my mate's like "er ok, hi there" looking confused, to which the bodyguard replies "you know, of the band Mis-Teeq" (who were in the charts at the time). My mate was like, "er, right, ok, hi". To which she said "well, are you going to photograph me then or what?" and he replied along the lines of "er no I'm just here to photograph the house actually" before grinning and walking off to do his job. :D

He still doesn't know which one from Mis-Teeq it was, as he thought they were carp. Quality brush-off to a z-list celebrity though. :D
