After much umming and ahhhing i went for Dragon Age on a technicality. That technicality being that i can't decide between it and Batman:AA but i played the latter on a console and feel Dragon Age is 'more of a PC game' if you see what i mean.

I voted L4d2 because all the other games suck hard. 2009 was a poor year.

Obviously not played Batman or Dragon Age - I can't believe how many people have basically voted for an addon for a game that's just been rebaged.

Batman gets my vote as it was refreshing to see such a good arcade game on the PC - sadly we don't get enough of them. I have to admit I'm completely fed up of FPS's - nigh on every PC game has to be an FPS - yet nothing new is bought to them. Pfft!

2009 = fail for PC games :( didnt like anything that i bought/demoed this yr so still loving the oldies BF2 and COD4. Roll on 2010 for AVP3 and BF: BC2 :D

Nice thread. Left 4 Dead 2 from me. :)

@mc4cc45 = fail  Hiow many times has this to be repeated? It is no less a sequel to the first than Half Life 2, Modern Warfare 2, COD 2, Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 2 or any other "2" out there. Want a different game, never ever buy a ****in sequel!

I'm disappointed Plants vs Zombies isn't in there, but it's understandable. Probably the most fun I've had this year - apart from rediscovering Freespace 2 with shiny new graphics. Dragon Age it is, a hero of PC gaming in anyone's book. I've not played MW2, so I'll hold on the aggro, and the same for L4D2. Howver, I notice nobody's voted for Empire: Total War, even though it's up there twice.

How so? It looks exactly the same. It's exactly the same premise. Do you really think they couldn't have made the changes as an addon?

Does HL1 to HL2 change engine? Do the graphics change vastly? How about TF1 to TF2? You see the massive changes there? Bubble Bobble to Rainbow Islands, etc. There's millions of games out there that have absolutely blinding sequels.

Basically, when I saw the '100 reasons why LFD2 is a true sequel' it made me despair. Basically that someone is sad enough to write that in the first place but the second reason is that the felt the need to write it.

well not really there where engine changes.

like in the hl episodes.

They could have done them as expansion packs but you would have had to re download the entire engine again....

And then l4d1 and it's maps would have had to be entirely recoded to work in the new engine.

You seem to bw basing the entire definition of a sequel on the gfx...

1. Left4Dead 2 (Scavenge = win; improves on the original in every aspect)
2. Dragon Age: Origins (Morrigan ftl, but an otherwise superb game)
3. Borderlands (let down by online play but an otherwise fun game)

Dragon's age is HARD. I'm not ashamed to admit this as I imagine that the stigma associated with being good at rpg's is far greater :D
L4D24ME

If you meant ARMA2, then it did nothing for me. The demo ran like crap even at a very low resolution, the robotic chatter got on my moobs and it caused a bsod twice.
A game causing a BSOD! :O
It's never been near my computer since. Terrible, terrible game. I'm loath to even call it a game.
