rage against the x-factor - Outcome: RATM is the Christmas Number One!

People who buy Rage are not the people buying this though, sheep with £1.50 spare, following a Facebook group are. Big difference. To a large extent the song picked would just have to be any semi controversial song and people on the internet and Facebook (who love a good controversy) would have bought it.

I disagree look what music people in the group are into and which music and radio stations they listen to. A lot of people also have said they already own it.

Seems that way huh?

Now you have quoted Dmpoole and told him something where he asked a question he will probably come back with the "I'm 50+ years old, know music more than you, seen more gigs than you, etc" same old approach.

As he did when I posted the above :p

Ah sorry missed your post there. Very good explanation.

Well to be fair I have listened to this track for my personal enjoyment quite a few times and have never paid a penny for it, so I kind of owe it to the artist/label to buy it. :)

That's probably true of most people that are doing this I am willing to bet.

They are all reformed music pirates, and Simon Cowell has made them see the light? :)

So why are they buying it again, and if there are so many fans why has this single not gained chart positions before, Be honest and just admit you are doing it to prove a point or to prove the "power of the internet/social networking sites" etc.

I have no doubt in my mind if this song had been re-released earlier in the year it would be no way near number one, nor would these people who "claim" to like it so much would have bought it.

Anyway, I am thinking of having a similar campaign to stop those money grabbing big corporations getting one of their nice "popular" computer games being number 1 selling game of 2010.

Can you help out?

12 hours and only at number 14? If tonights show ends at 9:30pm, X factor single will be number one on iTunes by 9:33pm.

We have enough dreadful songs in the charts, we really dont want Rage against machines although this is good publicity for an awful band that has never and will never make it. The people in X Factor this year are way more talented.

Yes to prove a point, being a decent song at number one and a vote against reality tv. but that does not mean people do not like, listen or want the track like you suggested.

Yeah, who the hell are these chumps anyway? Who would have known that they've sold millions of albums all around the world, and have headlined most major music festivals.

I wish all you noobs would stop talking about this as though it was the first of its kind. Some of us were there last year getting Jeff Buckley to number two. It's happened twice now, which makes it a tradition... If x factor is on next year, this will happen again.

Although, to be fair that campaign was about his version of the song being butchered, and played heavily on his cover being better than the X-factor cover.

If you want to continue last year's tradition, you should be trying to get Miley Cyrus' version of "The Climb" to number one :D
